I have a question for all you baby wear-ers! My babygirl is almost 5
months and just a little over 12.5 lbs, is it too late to start wearing
her?? We got passes to Kings Island and plan to go to the zoo and such
this summer and I was wanting to get a sling or something to wear her in
so I dont have to take a bulky stroller everywhere, plus I wanna loose
the carseat while shopping as well! Tell me about it, pros and cons. Do
you enjoy it? Do the babies? Does it get hot? and lastly recommend your
sling/carrier and where to get them for a good price! TIA!

Re: baby wearing question!
I totally agree with Mrs.Cooley. I love our Ergo, it was totally worth the money. Babysteals occasionally has them, but even if you pay full price they are worth the money.

I swear by my Moby (just ordered #2 today in a lighter fabric for summer) I wore Nolan all around the zoo in it last Saturday - hence why I got a lighter color - I have black & if it had even been a couple degrees warmer I think it would have been too hot. It probably would be too hot for longer trips outside though.
I seriously enjoy it & nothing calms Nolan as the moby does - it's just like holding him. Within 2 minutes of going in it - he always falls asleep.

Nope definitly not too late to start wearing your baby. Lots of people love the Ergo and sometimes you can find good deals on them online. I have the Beco Butterfly and Love it. The gemini looks awesome too it just wasn't out when I bought ours.
We just used it on our vacation to Gatlinburg and it was a lifesaver!! We took Audrey on a hike that would have been impossible without it.
Do it you won't be dissapointed
I loved carrying DD. I had a Moby, and an Ergo. I stopped carrying her in the Ergo about 9 months ago, but I bet she could still be in there comfortably. I just started having shoulder pain when I carried her at around 24 pounds, so I stopped wearing. It is SO much easier to put a baby in a carrier than to have to worry about a stroller. You will love it. I highly recommend Beco or Ergo. Find one on sale, and go for it. You can always resell for almost what you paid if you find it is not for you. Good luck!
Definitely not too late! How is your DD's trunk support? Can you hold her propped on your hip yet? I found that in the summer the only carrier that isnt sweltering hot is my Maya Wrap ring sling-- my DS is SUPER tiny (was 14lbs at 1 year) and I found between 12-14lbs was a good size to start doing a hip carry with the ring sling if she has semi-decent trunk control.
I also love my moby wrap but by 5 months DS wasnt big on being that confined. I will occasionally wear him in that doing a facing out hold but it gets pretty warm with all the extra fabric. If you could get one in a more lightweight fabric that might work but I would try it out at home and see how long she likes being in it.
I also have an ergo and have no had much success because DS is so small. I know there are the infant inserts but since my DS is older he likes to move more and the inserts havent worked well. I am holding out hope that as he gets older/taller this will be a good option for us because it really does have the best support for a long time carry (I have carried my heavy nephews in it before).
I agree also that a mei tei wrap might be good and is less fabric and wrapping than a moby but I don't own one of these so I cant comment much on how hot they get. Does anyone you know have a few different carriers that you could borrow to see what works best? I would want to try them on w/ my LO there so I could see how they tolerated it before making a larger purchase since most carriers can be somewhat pricey. I also agree w/ Esther that at this age you might not be ready to ditch the stroller yet-- for long trips like the zoo I don't attempt to wear DS because it gets too hot for me and if you decide to NOT wear them then you have to just carry them the whole time which doesnt help cool either of you of. GL!
ETA: Another bonus that I liked last summer with my ring sling was that when they are still that young you can switch from a hip hold to a cradle hold and have them almost 100% shaded from the sun and DS would always fall asleep when I would put him in the cradle hold which is a nice benefit with a younger baby.
