I was just reading on line about how long you should continue to see the lh surge line on a opk strip. this one person asked if the line goes away after 48 hrs of the surge detection and someone wrote in response that if the line stays (darker or the same color) for 7 days then that is a good sign you are pg. I'm thinking this is BS but I sort of want to keep poas for the next few days to see if the lh is detcted longer. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I freakin hate the 2ww!

    My surge usually lasts ~3 days...  I keep testing because my cycles are irregular and I want to make sure I don't get a second surge.

    so you see the line for three days? I know it may seem silly that I'm asking I just never thought to keep looking for a + opk on any day after i got one. once i see it I'm just on "go mode". lol

    Your LH surge is usually just before ovulating/ at the very beginning of ovulating. As far I as know the hormone has nothing to do with getting KU.

    Its been said that an OPK test will turn positive if you are pregnant, but an HPT will not turn positive if you are ovulating.  I use the tests for what they are originally intended for OPK=detecting LH surge before ovulation and HPT=HCG for pregnancy.

    Yep, I see the line for three days.  If I was less obsessive about all this I'd probably stop testing, but I don't always ovulate right after my surge (as suggested by how long until AF shows.)  I have never actually picked up a second surge on an OPK, though; not sure if my body just takes a long time to ovulate (i.e. no second surge) or if the second surge is smaller and non-detectable.

    just got home and took opk and got -. so i ovulated yesterday and hit my mark according to ff. i'm enjoying the vip feature right now. too bad i only have 3 more days of it. maybe if i'm unsuccessful this month i'll spring for the real ff package. thank you ladies for your info.

    I think you should check out Peeonastick.com

    She has a lot of interesting info on "Using an opk as an Hpt." She does a lot of pretty interesting little "experiments" as well.
