When to buy nursery furniture?

Hello Ladies,

Just wanted some advice on when you started purchasing your nursery furniture? I already have some furniture in mind that both my husband and I agree on, but I just feel like it is too soon to purchase. I'm only 14 weeks right now. What do you think?

Most books or timelines say around 20 weeks, I ordered mine at 21 weeks and it just came in a few days ago.

I'm just starting to look now. Just keep in mind if you order it, it may take a few weeks to come in.

Depends on what brand you're buying. We ordered ragazzi, as soon as I found out the gender last time at 17 weeks. The crib and changing table got here when I was 37 weeks, and the dresser got here... 2 months after Liam was born.

Order whenever you want. As PP said, keep in mind it may take weeks to arrive, and then it must be assembled...that is not easy with a big belly. I'm surprised to see people waiting so long to do this. P.S.--time lines are ridiculous. You feel like you have to wait for the 'appropriate' time to put together a room? That is silly.

The furniture I ordered takes 6-8 weeks to arrive, I ordered it last week with that in mind.

I think I remember ordering ours around 19/20 weeks.

BRU was having a nursery sale, so since this is my second one we decided to go ahead and order the furniture. We got a great deal on it and they offer layaway which is great b/c we are not having the baby till fall. Have fun and go whenever you feel like it!!

We bought ours at 14 weeks, and it's being delivered next week (at 24 weeks). Nursery furniture can take 10-16 weeks to get delivered, depending on where you order it from.

We will be buying ours, hopefully, on June 4th. I'll be about 18.5 weeks. I'm planning on it taking 2-3 months to arrive. We will be buying it from a higher-end baby furniture store.

However, if you are going to buy from somewhere like BRU, it won't take nearly as long. I think 3 weeks is what I've heard from a lot of people.

We got ours real early. We bought Baby's Dream which can take up to 12 weeks when ordering. I would definitely not worry about ordering too soon since its just furniture. (unless your doing girl-white, boy-different color)

We are buying our furniture around June 16th... I should be about 29 weeks... Feels like Im cutting it close eek!
