Dairy-free mommas, had to share

I just discovered that Mellow Mushroom makes a dairy-free pizza using vegan cheese. It was actually pretty good and DD (who is a seriously picky eater) ate almost an entire piece. I figured I would pass along my find b/c I was so excited to have another dining out option!

  • good to know! We actually have one of those about an hour from us. We make Jacob a pizza out of bisquick mix (contains wheat), with allergy safe pizza sauce and Daiya "mozz cheese." Sometimes I hide in a bit of ham or turkey in there as well, since hes not much on pepperoni.

Mellow Mushroom also uses the Daiya cheese. I haven't had any luck finding it in the stores in my area. Do you have to order it?

if they use daiya cheese, than does that mean it's soy free also???? :)

i've been making my own pizza for my son from time to time. I make the pizza dough once a month and freeze it in little balls and then i use sauce, broccoli, mushrooms and daiya cheese on top.  I would love from time to time to just whip out an already made pizza and microwave/toast it.

  • There is a dairy and soy free cheese???  Please tell me it is also rice free?

ETA: Darn, just looked at the ingredients and it has pea protein and coconut oil.

I'm sorry :( i know it sucks when you feel like you found something and then BAM, there is something you can't have in there.

Have you tried making your own "Cheese"?   use pureed cauliflower with avocado (or no avocado).  Steam the cauliflower -not too soft, and put some salt, pepper and what ever other spices you want. Even lime juice might be yummy. and puree it for a long time. no added water, unless you have to.

    hope that helps.

Thanks!  I'll have to see if she is ok with both cauliflower and avocado!

We buy it at our local Martins store. I assume Whole Foods would have it as well, but our closest is an hour away.
