Won't take bottle or sippy cup anymore

My son used to drink 5 bottles a day, which then went down to 4 bottles a day.  Then we just went on vacation and he was only having 2 or maybe 3 a day.  Now we're home, he doesn't want anything to do with his bottle or a sippy cup.  I'm worried he's gonna get dehydrated as the only thing he'll drink from is my water bottle and if I hold a straw with water in it and drop it into his mouth.

Has anyone had this issue before?  Any suggestions?  TIA

  • So he's taking no formula or breastmilk? I would call ped looking for suggestions and maybe cutback solids . My son won't take a bottle or sippy cup either ( that's why I came in this post) but he is still nursing. That must be frustrating, I am sorry Good luck

  • What about a straw sippy cup?  That is all DS uses nowadays.

I 2nd the straw cup. Our DS learned how to drink from a sippy cup and a straw cup at 7 months. Last week we were offering him his juice in a sippy cup and he just wouldn't drink it. We tried everything with him (he was having allergy issues and an EI and dr. said push fluids) and he just didn't want anything to do with it. We gave him his straw cup and he has been drinking like a champ since then.

My DD does this when she is teething. I put a bottle in her mouth when she is sleeping and she dream feeds, that way I know she's getting some liquids if she won't take them during the day.

  • Thank you everyone!  I think I'll be running to the store to get a straw sippy cup and try that out!  And to the comment about teething, that could definitely be it too!
