Trying to Get Pregnant

Implantation Cramps or Ovarian Cyst?

This is the first month since off BCP, TTC using the helpful tools on this website.  My ovulating timeframe was calculated about 3-5 days ago with AF scheduled to come in 10 days.  Tightness in lower abdomin with some twinges on my left side, uncomfortable if I should bend down... just started today.  There has been on and off soreness in breast and nipples but that seemed to happen well before this.  Just feels like something yanks on my ovary every so often.  Could it be implantation cramps or maybe an ovarian cyst?  Maybe my body is just off BCP and going crazy...any advice?

  • Could be any of those.  If you're really concerned, call your Dr.

  • Too be honest, it doesn't sound like either, it sounds more like ovulation pain, since you are feeling it on one side.  Since you aren't charting you may have ovulated a bit late, and therefore are feeling the cramps now.  It's too early for implantation cramps, and ovarian cysts usually cause cramping during ovulation since they are irritated by the other follicles.  You most likely are just ovulating right now, and should test in 12 days from today.  From now on you should try to chart or use OPK's, since guessing when you ovulate, isn't very accurate, even with the tools online.  Everyone ovulates at a different time, and many people ovulate at a different point every month.  The luteal phase always stays the same but the follicular phase can vary, making it very important to either chart or use OPK's GL!

When you say you calculated ovulation, do you mean you looked at one of those online calendars or calculators?

My guess is that you're ovulating now, and are experiencing ovulation pain.  GL!

I somewhat disagree with this - I've had cysts interfere and cause discomfort through the whole 2WW.  And they can happen on one side just like O pain can. It most certainly could be O pain or a cyst - However, as per PP, if you are concerned best to see the Dr. GL.

  • I've been having the same type of pain. Mine is on the left side. To me mine feels like a cyst, which I haven't had in years, but now that I'm off the nuvaring, I've been waiting for one to appear. If it gets any worse or you're that concerned I agree with PP, call your DR.
