Diaper Genie v. Diaper Champ

I am trying to decide which to buy any advice?

First time mom here, but I keep hearing that the Champ is better. You can use whatever bags you want so it's a lot less $$ than having to buy the special bags for the Genie.

The only thing that sucks for anyone who wants to color-coordinate is that the Champ only comes with blue or pink trim. Not very cute!

i have the diaper champ. i like it better because you can just stick a regular kitchen trash bag in it and be done. DH empties it once a week and i dont notice a smell or anything like that.

we had a champ, and it worked fine for us. We won't be using any diaper pail this time around--they just get too nasty, no matter what kind you get.

I used the Diaper Champ with DD because you can use regular trash bags with it and not buy the refills which are really expensive! This time around I'm not getting either. We will soon be a famiy of 6 so we take the trash out 1-2 times a day anyways!

Diaper Champ all the way!! We had the genie and hated it, and the refills were expensive....tried a regular pail and it stunk!!! Never had any problems from the Champ and it never smelled!

We used the Diaper Champ up until 6 months when we started feeding solids. It worked fine and you couldn't smell anything, but when you went to change the bags it smelled awful. After the 6 month mark I had to take it out more often because the poop smell was bad. We just throw them in the regular garbage now and make sure the poopy ones hit the main garbage that is taken out daily, and wrapped in a poop bag if I can't just flush it down the toilet. I'll probably get the diaper champ out for the first few months when there are lots of frequent diaper changes at night upstairs, but I wouldn't buy a diaper pail at all again had I known.

We love our Diaper Genie! We have two, in fact. I don't really find the bags to be that big of a deal, but to each his own. We've never had any problems with our Genies.

Neither. A standard dog food container is usually bigger, seals perfectly, and can hold a standard trash bag. And they come in all sorts of colors. WAYYYY cheaper.

(If thats what you are going for, price, I mean!)

I received a Diaper Genie for DS#1. I returned it. Did not see a use for it. We use/will continue to use our cat litter containers. They make GREAT diaper pails! They seal completely, And..they also make great buckets for mops and things.. We have 2 cats so we always have litter on hand. When it fills up.. throw the whole container away. yay!

This resonse annoys me...and someone always has to make it. The OP was debating between the Genie and the Champ, so this response was useless.

Plus, it's not like a Diaper Genie costs $100- they're all relatively inexpensive. It's a small cost many people are willing to pay for convenience.
