My dad passed away last week
Thank you all for all the kind words, thoughts, and prayers over the past few months as my dad battled his lung cancer for the last time.
He took a downturn very quickly Mother's Day weekend. He and my mom came to our house that Saturday for Marcus' baptism the following day. About an hour after they got here, he went upstairs to rest and had a horrible amount of pain. To make a long story short, by Tuesday, he was in a hospice house (a true blessing for all of us).
He and mom made the decision to move him from the house b/c they couldn't get the pain under control. Ethan got to talk to him Monday night and I got to on Monday and Tuesday. By the time I got to hospice, he was basically unconscious b/c of the drugs and we were told it was unlikely he'd "wake up". However, until Thursday, he definitely responded to our voices.
Dad passed away on May 16 after 81 years of life. My birthday was yesterday and my brother's is on the 27th. Needless to say it's been a hard couple of weeks.

Hugs. I'm so sorry you're going thur this. That time you had with him recently hopefully gives you a little peace.
And, I hope you had a happy birthday and can treat yourself soon.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 6 years ago after a very long illness and it is so heartbreaking. I hope you find a little peace eventually knowing that he is no longer in pain.
That is a wonderful picture of the two of you. I can see how much you love eachother.
