Okay, MIL. Get with the program.
I have an AWESOME MIL, but this week has been a little rough. She is normally so amazing that I feel guilty when I read MIL vents. Well, this week...
1) She was watching Mackenzie upstairs while I vaccuumed downstairs, and decided that Mackenzie was going to CIO. We don't CIO!! I understand that some people do and it works for them and that's great. But Mackenzie sleeps 8 hours at night and naps well. She is fairly predictable and goes to sleep on her own with no crying 85% of the time. I don't see what purpose CIO would have for us. The vaccuuming didn't take long, so I heard her after 5-10 minutes I think, but come on. Mackenzie was crying so loudly/sadly and MIL said she was "just talking loudly" in her crib on her own.
2) We went to BIL's senior banquet, where he recieved some awards. The buffet dinner was in the next room. MIL told me she would hold LO while I went and got my food. I came back into the room and a complete stranger was holding my baby. As I approached, someone asked her whose baby she was holding and she said "I don't know, I asked to hold her". MIL had left the room. BIL goes to a small private Christian school so I think there is this false sense of security. I grabbed my baby back from the woman ...
3) MIL took it upon herself to make LO a bottle of water and try to feed it to her today. We had JUST talked about how pediatricians now know that babies shouldn't have water.
What is going on?! This is not the supergrandma I am used to dealing with! Obviously it has been stressful and awkward dealing with it. Ugh. She is the one person I was ready to trust alone with my LO ... I was going to ask her to watch Mackenzie so I could have a date night with DH ... now I feel like I'm not ready to leave her with anyone. Which is BAD because I go back to work in two weeks.
