I'm on day four after birth. My milk is just coming in, which is just adding to the loveliness of nipple/boob pain from breastfeeding.
So, ladies with outside babies - when did boob pain peak for you? Tell me your experience. (I'm mostly meaning nipple pain, but tell me all).
TIA!

Re: Talk to me about boob pain
My boobs didn't hurt from milk coming in (I was a G pre-pregnancy, I think the mass has killed most of the nerve endings). The nipples? I had heard from friends that the best way to prepare for breastfeeding was to rub sandpaper on your nips. I didn't do that, but I did do the lanisoh. It helps some. I use olive oil as well. You just kind of get used to it, I guess. Pumping used to really hurt, but now I slap those horns on and play words with friends. About 10 days out it didn't hurt as much.
We do joke that we should have named her Dyson. This kid has suction.

the peak was day 2-4. After that my nipples started to stop hurting. By the time she was a week old my nipples were fine. Now its only when she pulls or "bites."
I heard that I was lucky. It usually takes about 2 or 3 weeks on average from what I've heard.

Gah, no. Please nobody do this.
OP, I think for me it peaked around 5 days postpartum both times. Make sure your baby is latching correctly. Both lips should be flared out like fish lips and they should be getting as much of the areola in their mouth as possible. GL.
No, crap!! There needs to be a sarcasm button for the internet. It is a joke about how your boobs feel afterwards, not an actual "do this". Sorry my sleep deprivation made it sound like something else!!

peak?? when I had mastitis!!
LOL true story
The first time, the day my milk came in and the day following were agony. I was in tears the entire time and it didn;t help that I had a defective manual pump and really no way to take the edge off other than hand-expressing. A very sleepy newborn didn't help matters.
This time, the day my milk came in was uncomfortable, but I wasn't in anywhere near as much pain. The day following was worse, but I was vigilant about keeping him awake during feedings long enough to sufficiently drain a side. He's a sleepy eater who takes his time, so I've found that either keeping his feet out (if he's wearing a gown) or tickling his feet is helping the process.

make sure when you are introducing your boob to her that you pinch your boob so that she gets a good hold on it. she might be hitting just your nipple and not have enough in. as she is feeding if it hurts it might not be right on the latch. I try to get most of my areola in her mouth and I make sure that my position is right for her. each boob is different (my right nipple is down a bit) so I have to work her around a bit sometimes.
belly to belly and that usually gets a good latch for me.
I know my milk is starting to come in or on it's way. my boobies are super sore and are getting larger. I hope tomorrow my milk is truly in.
lanoish and medela nipple cream after each breastfeed is very important for comfort. I have missed a few times here and there and I notice a big difference.
good luck
