Thank you notes... I must be the only weird one

I just got done doing thank-you notes from my work shower and a small family shower yesterday.  I think I ended up doing 33 with about 3 more I need addresses for.  I actually enjoyed writing them because not only does it give me a chance to thank them for the gift they went to the trouble of purchasing, I can also tell my co-workers and family how much I appreciate them.  Especially the co-workers cause I don't think people get told enough how special they are.  I had a really big work shower with like 25 people and loads of great food.  I guess having a mom that survived stage 3 breast cancer just makes me appreciate the little things so much more.   Don't know if anyone else can relate but I guess I am one of the weird ones, lol!!

  • No, this makes total sense. My hubby was diagnosed with Stage I lymphoma just after we found out we were expecting (he's now in remission). These two major life events this year have REALLY made me appreciate all of the wonderful family and friends we have and just how lucky we are in general.

  • My grandma survived breast cancer and just survived colon cancer. My mother this past year almost died from a sinus infection.. As much as I love my family and appreciate life - I still don't plan on writing out individual thank you's to each of my coworkers for the group gift they got me. I don't think I appreciate them any less. But more power to you!

  • I don't love sitting down to write the, but I do like making them special.  DH says I write "letters" not notes.  I just really want that person to know how much I appreciated their gift (and/or attendance at my shower) and how much they mean to me as a person in my life.  It's not often we talk about that kind of stuff in everyday conversation.  So my hands may cramp a little more than the average person's, but it's worth it to me.  I know how much a sincere thank you note means to me when I get one.

This is exactly how I am too... I still hear about my thank you's from my wedding shower. It took me forever to write them but it was worth it. I have to start my baby shower thank you's this week... It will probably be a week long process.. lol.

  • I am trying to stay caught up since I still have a church shower and a small shower with my mom's friends to go.  They are both just a couple of weeks before my Csection. Hope your husband is doing okay with the lymphoma.  So thankful to be celebrating 6 years with my mom this June!!  She is very special.  I missed our Relay for Life Friday night since I didn't want to get in a big crowd.  Good luck with finishing up all your thank you notes girls!!

  • For my work shower...even though it was after hours with a small group and just one gift from all of them (all kinds of baby essentials, some cloths, and book and a gift card) I did individual thank yours for each coworker that was present and the feedback i got from everyone let me know how much it was appreciated.  Now, I'm still working on thank yous from last week's big shower.
