Questions for those who chart

Is your EDD the same as your chart?

I have a DS and a DD. I charted for both, but once I went to the doctor they gave me a EDD and I never compared them. With both kids, I went to an RE for my first few visits before switching to an OBgyn.

I went back and looked at both my previous pregnancy charts and realized that the EDD on the charts were not the same as my doctor given due dates. With my DS the date on the chart was 2 weeks after the EDD the doctor gave me. With my DD it was just a few days. I had both kids +/- 3days of the doctor given EDD.

So, I am just curious - for those that charted, were the dates the same? I know those are just estimated due dates, but just out of curiousity :)

  • Your OB uses a wheel that goes by the idea you ovulated on CD 14. If you ovulated on a different day your chart adjusts it. HTH.

I charted and ended up ovulating a little late, on day 21. When I went to the dr. for my first ultrasound at 6w5d the u/s also read 6w5d +/- 2days. So it has been spot on! So my fertility friend chart and the dr. are in agreeance on my EDD...for now. Smile
  • My OB did not use my LMP to figure due date because of really long cycles, so when I had a dating u/s a week and a half ago, the EDD they gave was 1 day sooner than my FF EDD.

  • I charted and gave myself an EDD based on what fertility friend told me.  My doctor hadn't given me one yet, but when I went in for a dating u/s, the baby was measuring exactly on track with the EDD from my chart.

  • I had a dating u/s and the baby measured 3 days smaller than my chart suggested. The dr said this is ok and the baby may catch up later. I'm interested to see if my EDD changes after my NT scan. Maybe he/she has caught up by now?

  • Well, if your OB used the due date wheel for LMP, that would explain the huge discrepancy in EDD.

Based on when I ovulated this past cycle, my due date would be Jan 10th, however, after our ultrasound on Friday, my OB said my due date will be Jan 11th based on how the baby was measuring. That's pretty accurate to me!

  • My EDD is the 26th, my fertility friend due date was the 27th. Pretty accurate, considering I ovulated on CD 26, not 14 which is what most Dr's go by.

ETA: I would guess that you delivered your first at 38 weeks not 40. Your chart would be more accurate than going by LMP. Were you measuring behind throughout that pregnancy? Two weeks is a big discrepancy if you were charting... wondering if Dr. gave you a dating ultrasound?

    Same here, 3 days off.

I o'd on CD23 so I was 1 week behind what my doctor's office was saying because they were going off my lmp. I went for my first ultrasound last week and I am measuring two days off from the date I calculated based on when I o'd.

  • Your OB bases your EDD on a perfect 28 day cycle, assuming that you ovulate on CD 14. Your chart DD will be more accurate because it is based on when you actually ovulated.

  • This is for my previous pregnancies and my son is almost 4 so it is very possible that I just dont remember correctly! :)

With my son, FF said Oct 15th, doctor did a dating ultrasound and told me Oct 4th. I delivered Oct 7th and measured perfectly for the doctor given due date.

Now FF says Jan 26th, Im curious what the dating ultrasound will say. Thanks everyone for posting about their pregnancies.
