I looked back a few pages and I didn't see a post about it, so forgive me if we already went over this.
I noticed quite a few people have hinted that they are teachers. Now I'm curious to what everyone does, because I'm sure all of our maternity leaves and work situations will be different!
So ladies, what to do you do?
I am a high school Japanese teacher, with 17 days of school left!

I teach middle school and am hoping to use some sick days during my maternity leave to keep a paycheck coming. I don't know all of the details for our district yet but I know lots of ladies who have managed. My biggest concern is how it will affect the students as we will be gearing up for state testing during the winter months.
ETA: Reading fail. I thought you were asking what we WILL do. This would be a bad time to tell you that I teach reading, right?

I'm about to get an assistant at CFA, so it'll be easy to transition out of there. I will probably work a lot less at photography after the little one is born- we're pretty much putting all my income in savings anyway.
I am a 2nd year law student.
Wow, lots of women in education here!
I'm a photographer- no summer's off for me! January is the PERFECT time for me to be taking off work- although I do have a wedding three weeks before my due date:S
Ninasama, I love that you teach Japanese. My family used to host university students at our home when I was young and a lot of them were from Japan. Since then I've always been so fascinated by that culture and language.

Ooooh I'm jealous of photographers because I'm the worst photographer in the world! So cool!
Yes, I love teaching Japanese! People are always surprised because I am not Japanese myself, but I was one of those kids who was super into the culture (like my students
) and I studied abroad in Tokyo. I think it's awesome that your family hosted university students! Having a host family was an amazing experience and I can't wait until I can do the same one day.
Seriously having fun hearing about everyone's work lives!
Seriously. That is beyond amazing!
Awesome!!
I'm a Client Specialist in the Commercial and Public Funds division at a bank. I used to work in middle office management for international trades a few years ago and that was much more fun
But got to take what you can get these days!

I used to teach special education, and am now back in school to get my PhD in special ed. I'm so happy to be due in January. We don't really get maternity leave in school, but you can take a semester off without it counting against your progress towards the degree, so a January due date gives me the longest possible maternity leave.
