NER: Contractions (stupid ?)

Ok so I feel stupid for asking, but can anyone describe what contraction pain feels like? I'm feeling a different kind of pain that seems to coincide with my BH. (?)

I never felt any of the contractions with DD (wierd I know) and wouldn't have even known I was in labor if my water hadn't broken.

Re: NER: Contractions (stupid ?)

  • to me, a contraction was like the worst pain ever.  like imagine you had a car land on top of you......x3..... w/a giant jumping up and down on it lol. worst.pain.ever.

i'm hoping to have a different attitude this time around (doing hypnobabies) and hopefully can deal with the contractions in a more productive way than i did w/ds.

ETA: it was also similar to like the worst poo cramps EVER.  i don't know if you've ever had a poop that felt like your intestines were twisted... but it feels a lot like that.  (i thought i was just having the worst poo pains of my life, turned out to be labor...oops!!)

  • Mine were achy, low down in my belly and hips... even when they weren't super painful.  It actually wasn't like the menstrual cramps I have - very different kind of ache.  It definitely felt like someone was squeezing me with a seatbelt... right across that same area - kind of a pulling pain, like when you're exercising and your muscles are getting stretched/pulled.

    Does that make sense?

I swear you'll know it when it happens.  But I can say that as someone who's always had contractions, I guess.  I had BH for weeks and weeks that were very uncomfortable, and sometimes 10 minutes apart for hours, to where I'd think maybe I was in labor (even though I'd already had two babies, I still wasn't sure).  The first real contraction I had this pg I knew it was different - and I remembered how different it feels from everything else.

Or... maybe your water will break?  Or maybe you should have some water and rest, because I think your baby needs to bake a little bit longer!

Squeezing/pulling/sharp pinching is the best way I can describe it and it's really low down but not all the way across my pelvis, kinda just in the center. I drank a couple glasses of water and propped my feet up on the couch and it's better now (unless I have to get up and walk around). I think I just overdid it today with DD. Stick out tongue

  • I never had belly contractions w/DD because she was sunnyside up - so they were all in my back & felt like horrible menstrual cramps.  But since being pg again, I have had some VERY painful, show-stopping BH's that literally took my breath away & were way more painful than the back labor I had with DD.

Take it easy for the rest of the night...
