Trying to Get Pregnant

Sperm Meets Egg Plan Question

I've been thinking about trying the Sperm Meets Egg Plan and am a little confused.  So it says to "try" EOD starting CD8 then ED for three days once you get your positive OPK.  But after those three days, it says to wait a day and "try" one more time.

So I'm wondering, why that last BD?  Assuming you O'd on even the last of the three days, and if the egg only lives 12-24 hours after O (is this true?), then wouldn't that last "try" be too late?  What's the point?!  Confused

Re: Sperm Meets Egg Plan Question

  • It's "just in case" sex. But honestly, the sperm-meets-egg method is crap for someone who has a later ovulation. I get positive OPKs on like, CD15 or 16, but don't O until CD22 or 23. I would miss my fertile window, for the most part.

Oh yeah true!  I guess it's not really necessary for those who are charting and know (for the most part) when we O.

I just got through TCOYF and she says sometimes (not the majority of the time) we can ovulate twice, the second 12 to 24 hours after the first. I wonder if the extra BD is to catch that slim possibility.

Good point.  I forgot about that!
