Anyone have experience w/ misoprostol for induction?

I scheduled an induction for June 2nd today since I am having no signs of labor.  My doctor recommended misoprostol to induce me.  I have never heard of this drug and am just starting to research it.  Anyone have any personal experience with it?  I really hope this baby comes on its own.  I will be doing plenty of walking this weekend!

  • They used miso to induce me. It's something they leave in you to absorb into your system, unlike cervidil which can be removed if need be. It didn't work for me and we moved on to pitocin rather than trying it again.

  • They used it when I was induced.

They insert a pill (I had to lay there for about an hour for it to start absorbing... then I could move around freely) every 4 hours, maximum of 6 doses (24 hour period). I had all 6 doses. It didn't do much for me besides thin my cervix - hardly any dilation from it. After the 24 hours were over, they started pitocin. Basically, they check to see if there's any change, and then they insert another pill if necessary.

They gave me morphine for pain (which helped me sleep) because I had some mild cramping & contractions started to become uncomfortable (not as painful as they were on pitocin).
