3rd Trimester

What do you do for Pregsomnia????

So I know many of us here are suffering from Pregsomnia, (pregnant insomia). Well I had problems with insomnia before I even became pregnant. Since I am trying to work up until the baby comes though, this is particularly difficult. I've tried Tylenol P.M. and Benadryl, and they do give me some relief. I didn't start taking anything until late in the 2nd trimester/early 3rd trimester. But, I feel horribly guilty taking them on a regular basis. Then when I don't take them I just lie there in hell....Sigh. I just want some sleep while I can still get it.

  • I just hang out till I fall asleep.  And sometimes thats not until 3 or 4 am....which sucks because I still have to wake up with my 20 month old DS.  I do get about an hour long nap during the day after I put DS down for his.

I am against sleeping pills/aids. So I just deal with it.

  • My midwife said to take Unisom, or Tylenol PM if my back is hurting on top of the insomnia.   I don't normally like to take sleep aids, but she emphasized that I really need to sleep now, since I could go into labor any day and need my energy for that.
  • I took unisom with both pregnancies.  It's the only way I sleep.  I have to take it for nausea too, along with B6, since I have "morning sickness" the entire time Im' pregnant.  If I run out, I get nauseas and I can't sleep, so don't feel guilty.  You need sleep to grow that healthy baby too!
  • I just DVR law and order during the day and watch that at night until i fall asleep. Usually leaving the lights on helps my eyes get tired too so I usually don't shut them off. I then mozie on into bed around 5 or 6am and sleep until about 10 or 11 and then if I am lucky I get to take a nap in the middle of the day.
I can't wait for this baby to come out so I can sleep in a more messed up pattern, but at least it will be a pattern....right?
