Poll: Meditation

I am in a meditation rut. I think I need to try something different. I curently use two forms of meditation. In the first, I sit straight and tall. I clear my mind and focus on my breath. I make sure that no thoughts come rumbling in to disturb the quiet. I just focus on being in the minute. In the second form I use some light background music, I envision myself looking through a full body mirror. I envision my life and where I want to be. I see things like my family all healthy and happy. I see my garden. I see pretty flowers.

Lately, I just don't feel grounded or inspired like I used to with meditation.

Do you meditiate?

If you do, what is your procedure?

Re: Poll: Meditation

  • I meditae A LOT.

One of my favorite forms is to lie on my back in silence and I tighten/tense my entire body from my feet to my head- one part at a time. So I start a my toes and tighten and release- repeat 10x (while totally clearing my head- and really focusing on just relaxing) and then I work my way up all the way to the top. I finish with just lying still.

I think I might have asked you before- have you ever tried Tai Chi? I have been doing it for over 10yrs- and it is one of the most relaxing parts of my day.

  • I don't meditate but recently I've been thinking about this.  I've been struggling with finding the time to do it.  Parker doesn't nap anymore so there's no "me" time.  Maybe you're feeling the same so getting into that "place" isn't happening?  Sorry I can't be of more help, but I wish you luck finding the solution.

  • when i first read this post- i read it as mediation.

That is when you know you are working too hard. Work is ALWAYS on my mind.

  • I meditate every evening.  I am currently listening to Steven Halpern's Comfort Zone on my iPod to get me where I need to be.  I sit straight like you and I focus on the music.  I try to visualize the birth of my son -- I actually consider this practice for my upcoming birth in August.
