So I've noticed that almost all of the girls say, "I don't want this baby to affect my plans..." come on...even if you are dumb as a box of rocks- you have to know that a baby changes things. I'll give you that you don't really know HOW MUCH a baby can change stuff- but to honestly think a baby wont change anything....HELLLOOO?!?!

Re: 16 and Pregnant- really?
I don't have cable, so I only very rarely catch the show, but I work with teen moms, and I saw this really great speaker who touched on why these girls think nothing will change.
The 2 major points that struck me were: 1. Adolescents in general understand that actions have consequences, but to them it is an abstract concept that they have a really hard time connecting the reality of the consequences. It actually has to do with the development of their brain. And 2. little kids are ego-centric (like when you are 4 and you think your parents are divorcing because you were bad) and as we age and go through adolescence, we change that way of thinking naturally, but when these girls have babies in the middle of adolescence they stop developing on the natural curve and skip right to adulthood without the necessary adaptation to their world view.
So all of that to say, I find 16 and Pregnant a really interesting study in psychology!
Wow. That is incredibly interesting and makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing!
