Baby Names

Need baby girl help/suggestions

My husband and I seem to be at an impasse.

We both loved Claire, but it's been taken off the table for a series of unfortunate reasons.

I like something a little more girlie and old-fashioned (Alice, Penelope), he prefers something a little more surname-ish, it seems (like Bailey, although he likes Maggie, so who knows). We both agree we want something fairly classic and recognizable, and nothing too trendy.

Names currently up for discussion (read: neither of us have vehemently nixed these) are:

Brynn

Darcy

Quinn

Ainsley

Arden

I would love opinions on these, as well as any names you think we might like and could have overlooked. Thanks!!!

I consider all of the names on your list to be trendy, even if they've technically been around a while.  The one I dislike the least is Brynn.

ok, then replace "trendy" with "popular." nothing on the top 100 if we can avoid it. no ava, no sophia, no olivia, no madeline, no charlotte.
  • Of them all, I like Brynn. Pretty, and I don't think "trendy" when I hear it.

  • From your list - I think Arden probably fits your criteria best.

What about Margot/Margeaux?  It's classic, has a surname feel and easily lends itself to the Maggie nn.

  • I like Arden the best, it is pretty and not used very often. I would pair it with something girly. Maybe Arden Claire Or Arden Jane?
Finley Belle 12/27/07 Ezra Bennett 10/02/09 Josephine Pearl 12/31/11 H is for Hillman
  • The only name on your list I really don't like is Ainsley.

I vote Arden or Darcy, since Brynn and Quinn are definitely more used right now. I still like them a lot, though.

I like all on your list with the exception of Darcy-- I just feel its really dated and has a silly feel to me.  Love Bryn and Arden      I really love Alice Penelope for a girl too bad your DH doesn't!
  • I like Brynn (biased, as this is on our list too...).

  • Brynn - actually really like this (biased bc I knew a Brynn growing up who was a really nice, well-rounded, smart person).

Darcy - NMS.  Sounds kind of Southern or like you're a P&P fan.

Quinn - LOVE.  Have a friend with a Quinn, and I think it's adorable.

Ainsley - Also LOVE.  Ainsley Hayes was my all-time favorite "West Wing" character.  My mom keeps telling me I can't name a daughter that because she would take after my Type A/OCD personality and everyone would call her "anal Ainsley."  Thanks, Mom.

Arden - I am not very familiar with this name, so it gets points right there.

Also think other posters have some great suggestions - I like Willa, Eliza, Silvia...
