So I am getting to the point where shaving is becoming a pain, so I was thinking of trying to wax, but have never done it before. Any specific waxes you recommend?
I have used and really like the pre-waxed strips- I think Sally Hansen makes them. They are plastic strips with wax in the middle that you rub between your hands to warm up then pull the plastic apart and smooth onto your leg then rip it off. The pain is significant, but so so worth it. And if you do it for long enough, the hair comes back more slowly and finer. Do make sure that the hair is long enough, like 1/4" long or you will have a lot of pain and much less benefit.
I'm an esthetician and I would caution against trying to wax your legs (I'm assuming that's what we're talking about here?!) yourself for the first time while pregnant.
Legs are pretty painful the first few times, especially if you don't know what you're doing. And when you are pregnant you have so much more blood flow the pain can be amplified. I can't tell you how many clients I've seen who have attempted an at home wax and have horror stories. I would recommend getting it done professionally the first time, then you'll know what you are getting yourself into if you want to try it yourself!

Thanks for your input - I was actually thinking this might be the way to go. Is there anything to be careful of when going to get it professionally done when you are pregnant? Any issues with any waxes or anything?
If you've never waxed before, I would also recommend going somewhere professionally for your first couple of times. I think it could end up messy if you don't have an idea of what you're doing, you can't see the area well, and you may end up having to get it done professionally after a botch anyway.
The only waxing I've done at home is underarm, and I also use the GiGi Honey waxes. But it's messy and I use it for last minute/emergency situations.

Let the esthetician know you are pregnant, it shouldn't make a difference but she should be aware of it. Any type of wax is safe, she will choose a wax based on your hair & skin type. And a little tip, if you typically don't shave your upper thighs just book a 1/2 leg. This should include above the knee and typically runs $20/$30 less than a full leg. good luck!
