I am a sahm and I breastfeed and supplement with formula (so he gets use to a bottle).
After talking to lots of friends, I feel like I'm the only person without a pump. I'm not worried about storing up milk or my supply. I think the only reason I want a pump is for relief when he sleeps long... BUT, then I'm telling my body to keep making milk and I'm not getting it used to the babies sleeping schedule. Ya know?
Just trying to figure out if I should go ahead a buy a little pump or if it really isn't worth it. I made it through 6 months of breastfeeding my first baby without one.

I have a double electric pump for going back to work and also to let DH feed LO sometimes. LO slept for 6 hours straight over the last two nights so I had to pump in the morning to relieve the engorgement. It was nice to add that to my (currently small) stash. I'm not concerned about telling my body to make more milk because I want to build up a modest stash and I hope to BF for a year.
I will go to work PT at 3mos, so I need a pump if I want to continue BM. But I also would like to let DH give a bottle from time to time, so I can go do something away from baby, or get some extra sleep.
Personally I do not love the pump, so I'm going to wait till 5 wks to start pumping a bottle every couple days.
I guess you have less of a need for a pump because your supplement with formula.
I have a Medela double electric. I chose that pump knowing I would return to work and would need to pump daily. With both babies I began pumping long before my return to work. I currently have a small stash. I won't be back at work until Sept, but I know I'll be able to be away from DD as soon as we introduce the bottle.
