Share your stupid TTGP advice

So I am sure many of us have probably gotten advice on how to get pregnant sooner...from people who aren't doctors...and who think having children makes them an expert in how to get pregnant. I am curious, what is the funniest/stupidest/weirdest advice you have gotten on how to get pregnant sooner rather than later.

I don't know if this necessarily qualifies, but my mom says the only reason I'm not pregnant yet is because the first cycle we tried (i.e. this one), we did not have sex every other day. She says, if you have sex every other day, you WILL get pregnant. Like, the first month you do that. Without fail.

Yeah, because the only reason none of us are pregnant is because we didn't know you had to have lots of sex to get pregnant. Argh!

I get the "stop trying" and you will get pregnant. Um if I stop trying, I will not get pregnant. That is why it is called TRYING to conceive. Ugh

The advice that annoys me the most is when someone tries to compare your situation to someone else's. Whenever I mention anything about PCOS to one of my friends, she always says: "Well, on TV, this girl had PCOS, and once she got pregnant, her PCOS was gone!".

I'm not sure how this helps me to get pregnant the first time around, but yay, my PCOS will be gone as soon as I have a baby!

"Just get drunk and have sex."

And also the stop trying thing. And relaxing. First, you tell me how to relax. And second, I slacked on the temping. I had a few cycles where we tried to just make sure we had good timing. It didn't work, either. And if we had a condition like annovulatory cycles, low sperm counts, or PCOS, I'd be super annoyed, because no amount of relaxing is going to fix that stuff.

Right?!?! It's like a little twist on the candlestick. Although, this coworker has 3 kids and claims she did the pre-sex candlestick each time, so maybe I should take her advice. Stick out tongue

I once had someone tell me to have sex right after eating hotdogs because there is supposedly something in hotdogs that help with conceiving. lol

I'm sorry, but you need mental help. I can just picture getting it on with my husband and eating a hot dog at the same time... SEXY

I think you also need to add to this post who gave the dumb advice. Because all my worst advice has come from someone who tried over a year and suffered a miscarriage. You'd *think* someone who's experience difficulty in the baby mking department would know better, but you'd be wrong. Or maybe it's just the douchey people in my life.

OH, I was given some pretty awful advice one time from a friend.

My sister had gotten pregnant right after she stopped her bc. A close friend of mine got pregnant when she accidently skipped a couple pills of bc.

Well, this particular friend suggested that I get on bc (I haven't been on it for many, many years btw) & then suddenly stop taking them & I should get pregnant.

We haven't gotten much, mainly because we haven't told many people that we're TTC - for this reason. We have some friends with an 8 mo. old and we're already overloaded with new baby advice, and we don't really want to hear their "tips".

But that hand-stand thing - may have to give it a try. Huh?

I always like when people to tell me that getting pregnant will cure my endo! Now that I've started on Clomid, I get 'what are all these drugs doing to you, are you sure they are safe?!'. Can't.win!! I also laughed when a friend told me I need to keep my legs completely elevated after BD.
