When you go out to eat, where do you normally go?
I have been getting so lazy about cooking dinner. Luckily, DH cooks about 4 nights per week, but the nights he has class, it's about the last thing I feel like doing.
Pretty much every time we eat out, I end up feeling sick to my stomach that night or the next day. Anyone else have this problem?
Re: Poll for Organic Moms
No but the lady I normally get my CSA from doesn't eat out for that reason. She says the way they clean and treat their vegetables is usually the culprit.
HTH
Next time you're down in the area, check out Green Dog Cafe - it's all organic, mostly local-sourced restaurant. Super tasty!

All of this. For example, my body ALWAYS gives me a big WTF!? whenever I eat a steak (at home or otherwise, grass fed or otherwise), because I very rarely eat red meat.
If strictly organic is what you're after, in addition to Green Dog Cafe (which we also LOVE...and may just be a big reason why we take the boys to class @ Gymboree on Thursday nights - HA!), there are other area restaurants (usually locally owned/operated) that use a mix of organic and locally grown foods (MJ's on Main, in Milford, is one of our favs). Lastly, Chipotle is a great standby, since almost all of their ingredients are organic. On the whole, we don't eat out very much; and, when we do, it's not always possible to eat cleanly/organically (heck, we aren't even 100% organic at home). I'm okay with that - everything in moderation...
Have you ever eaten out in Yellow Springs? Sunrise Cafe is great, they do lots of seasonal dishes, local organic produce. HaHa Pizza I think is pretty good about using as few highly processed items as possible, they use whole wheat crust as well. I don't know if Peaches uses a lot of organic foods but they have a lot of options for vegan/vegetarian.
I agree with the others though that it can be foods you order you don't normally eat, and especially at places like Friday's and whatnot, it's not as good a quality as what your body is used to if you eat clean and organic, so your body reacts.
We also are not a 100% organic family. And I am also all about moderation... unless I am pregnant and working full time.
I am just soooo tired at night! I don't want to cook or do dishes! I know that sounds super whiney. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too... or whatever that dumb saying is.
When we eat out it's normally take-out and I try to mostly get the "meal" part and then pair it with stuff at home (mostly a veggie or a salad). We normally eat to-go at a local cafe, subway, chipotle, pizza, or if we do fast food it is chick-fil-a or arby's. I try to choose the healthiest options from these places, and like I said, pair it with sides at home, but unfortunately, I don't think anything is healthy enough to make me feel good after eating it.
I wish someone would open a fast-food or take-out organic restaurant in Dayton. Boo!
I guess I need to suck it up or post about quick meals at home next...
I actually know nothing about organic restaurants but I thought one of my co-workers mentioned Whole Foods having good take-out? And, I'm assuming it's organic slash healthier than other options?
I've also seen Wildflower Cafe in Mason. They're supposed to be organic and 89% of people like them on Urban Spoon which is encouraging.
ETA: I just saw from your info that you're in Dayton. Again, per Urban Spoon, looks like you have a whopping 2 options in the area...which, I'm guessing you already know about. Linky.

Yes! I forgot about the obvious (Whole Foods). I almost always pick up a rotisserie chicken, each week, from WF...along with a few other convenience options, here and there. Everything is always fantastic. Is there a WF in Dayton?
I do a lot of meals from Dorothy Lane Market. They typically use free-range chicken, nitrate free meats, etc. It is pricey, but still cheaper than eating out. For eating out, I love Meadowlark, Christophers, and Yellow Springs. For quick take-out, we do Chipotle, Panera, Jimmy Johns, etc.
No Whole Foods.
Christine - I actually did not know about that site. 1 of those restaurants is near me, the other one is pretty far.
Edwardo - I haven't had Christopher's in a long time, but we live really near to it, so thanks for the suggestion! And I didn't even think about Dorothy Lane, we don't usually shop there, but a meal + a killer brownie sounds yum. And still will probably make me sick. Worth it, but sick.
Superchicky - I am totally getting Haha's next time we go to Young's for ice cream! Every single time we pass it, I say I want to eat there, but I never have!
Thanks for all the suggestions, girls!
