A friend of the family with a little girl close in age to DD really really needs prayers.
Long story short... They did a nanny search through a reputable company in the area and selected this retired RN with stellar references, background checks clean, etc. etc. I mean they did everything right... Came home last week and noticed a bump on their DDs head and asked the nanny what happened. Nanny says she dropped her. Yes dropped her... That evening, overnight, DD didn't seem right, so they took off work the next day to take her to pedi for checkup. Pedi sends them to hospital. Turns out the baby appears to have shaken baby syndrome... but that's not all. Facial injuries are in line with being struck in the face. My mom touched base with me over the weekend to let me know that based on the MRI results and other evidence, they believe the nanny threw. the. baby. into. the. wall. Who does that? Why would you go into this profession if you can't handle it? I threw up when I heard about all of this. Charges are being filed and I'm not sure if the local news media will pick it up or not, but I sure hope they do and I hope that woman gets the worst punishment ever. The doctors say their DD will never be the same
so please say a prayer for her and the family.
Re: NCDR: Say a prayer
It makes me sick to know people like this exist.

Was this in Ohio??
This. Also, my dad was really pushing for us to hire a nanny (with all the economic despair in Michigan right now he thinks we could get someone for really cheap) and I told him no because I wouldn't know where to begin vetting someone for that. This is just a reminder that even when you know what you're doing and find someone with all the right qualifications, things can still go terribly wrong.

That is sick sick sick >:( I am shaking from anger, and my eyes are watering. UGH! How could anyone do that? I really really hope the little girl will recover.
Much thoughts and prayers for the family...
I am so heartbroken for that family. I will keep them in my prayers. It's just so hard to believe someone could do that to a precious baby. Especially, as you say, someone who chooses that line of work.
How devastating.
Wait, she was fired for abuse and was able to hire in at another facility? Which state was this? That's a HUGE oversight on someone's part - I truly and sincerely hope that heads rolled over this. And that the teacher was punished. I work in a nursing home, I know it's possible to reach your limits when providing care for people... but that's when you step away and get someone else to cover for you! I am so glad the little girl recovered, and I can't comprehend what her parents must have gone through, especially with her being taken into protective custody.
OMG! Sickening.
Lots of prayers for this sweet baby.

I have a baby with special needs who screamed CONSTANTLY. I'm not exaggerating. 18+ hours a day for 5 months, then it got to about 8-10 hours a day for 3 more months. I can easily see where someone could SHAKE a baby to get them to stop crying, especially if they're inexperienced or it's not their child, etc. You hit a breaking point (this is when I would put him in his crib, put the monitor on mute go to the car and bawl my eyes out, scream, whatever I needed to do. I could easily see someone missing this "cue" for them and shaking a baby.
I, however, CANNOT fathom someone throwing a baby against a wall, hitting a baby in the face, dropping a baby, etc. Especially a child care worker. If you kno that you cannot handle a baby crying why would you be a nanny? At least in a center you would have someone else to help you but to be a nanny?!
I'm so sorry for your friends family and I will keep them in my prayers.
Oh.. my.. gosh. Heartbreaking.. so sad. I'm so sorry for that family and will send T&P to them.

Oh my goodness, that is just horrific! I can't even imagine how difficult this situation is for them. I will definitely keep them in my prayers!
I'm not sure how bad/serious the reason was that she was fired from the first place....but it was along the lines of her losing her temper. I'm not sure if it resulted in her being physically abusive. Ultimately this lead to a huge lawsuit, setllement, etc. Yes, her parents were devastated.....each one I'm sure, even in a small way, probably was wondering if the other one did it. Now, years later, the family is good thank goodness.
this is horrific
my friend is a nanny for twins, one of whom has SBS. Friend was hired by the state to be their nanny when the babies were removed from the home and placed with other family members that worked full time and couldn't be with the babies during the day. Parents were investigated for SBS but never fessed up to it as they'd lose their parental rights. Babies are back in their custody now, albeit with lots of visits from CPS. The number of doctors appointments the baby has had is crazy. Fortunately she is doing well, just hitting milestones a couple of months behind her sister.
I hope this baby has a strong recovery, kids can be so resilient.

This is why I believe there should still be public stonings. Kidding. Maybe.
I'm so sorry for that family and that precious baby. I'm sick to my stomach.
