Just wondering for those who already have 2u2 how your labors compared?
DD was 10 days late, 16 hour labor (2 1/2 hours of pushing). I'm hoping this one comes on time because those last 10 days were hard!
Also I'm a little scared because MIL and my mom's second children were almost born in the car on the way to the hospital!
I know everyone is different, but just curious! Thanks!
Re: Labor and Delivery #1 vs. #2
DS1 was born on his due date. Only about 5 hours of labor and then 2 hours of pushing. With him the labor was a breeze. (My water broke and they gave me an epidural and then started pitocin...so I never felt a single contraction). The pushing for over two hours was rough though. Then recovery was a breeze.
DS2 was born 5 days early. Labor was pretty quick again, about 5 hours. But the epidural didnt work and I felt every single contraction and it hurt...alot. I only had to push for 10 minutes the second time. (I think his brother's big head paved the way for him!) But I tore, and that then caused A LOT of complications after. So recovery wasnt as easy the second time.
DD - 35w4d, pPROM. She was born 12 hours after my water broke.
DS - 39w4d, induction. He was born 2.5 hours after my OB broke my water. I was already 5-6cm dilated and 90% effaced when I went in to be induced. I was induced because I lived an hour from the hospital and we were worried that if I had gone into labor on my own (or my water had broken at home) that I wouldn't have made it to the hospittal on time.
Good luck! I hope your baby is more punctual

DS2 was 12 days early, 2.5 hour labor, 30 min pushing
DD1: Born at 40w1d after 22 hours of active labor and 1.5 hours of pushing. She was posterior, so I had intense back labor the entire time. Birthweight was 6lbs7oz.
DD2: Born at 39w3d after 13 hours of labor, total. I pushed three or four times. Birth weight was 8 lbs flat.

DD - born on her due date, 12-13 hrs of labor, 1.5 hr pushing, 7 lb 14 oz.
DS - born at 37w4d, 3 hr 45 min of labor, 15 min of pushing, 7 lb 15 oz.
Both were med free, but labor #2 was way more intense/painful.
DS1 came 7 weeks early. I was stuck at 4cm and had to get (HATE it - pitocin). Epidural didn't take and I kept throwing up. He had a couple of decels in his h/r so couple that w/ PROM and I was freaking out. 17 hours of labor and pushed for 2.5. He was born 5 lbs.1 oz.
DS2 was a planned induction but my water broke on it's own. Again, had to get the pitocin. 10 hours of labor, pushed for about 1.5 hrs. He was born 8 lbs. 8 oz.
GL to you!!
I do not have my 2u2 yet but my next door neighbor just had her 3u3 and this was her story:
#1: 2 days late, 10 hours labor, 2 hours pushing
#2: 2 days late, 3 hours labor, 30 mins pushing ( no time for meds)
#3: 2 days late, 2 hours labor, 2 pushes ( no time for meds)
Who knows if that is the norm or not!!! I guess we will just ahve to wait and see what ours do!!
DD1 - came 2 days late, went into labor after OB swept membranes. Labor lasted for 10 hours, pushed for 30 minutes. She was 6lbs 15oz.
DD2 - came at 38 weeks and 6 days; labor lasted 4 hours. She came out after 2 pushes. She was 6lbs 14oz.
DD1 I went into labor on my due date..contractions started at 10pm and she was born 945am. 1.5 hrs of pushing..2nd degree tear. Sunny side up.
DD2 born 39w5d at 330am. Labor started the previous day 39w4d at 830am..so 19 hrs of labor. Water broke..contractions never started. 9 hrs of pitocin. 20 mins of pushing. 2nd degree tear.
DD1 was 7.1lbs and DD2 was 7.11lbs.
2 beautiful children
proud mommy!
I was induced at 38w1d with both boys.
Cole was born 29 hours later after 2.5 hours of pushing at 38w3d. 3rd deg. episiotomy, 7lb 6 oz, 21"
Owen was born 6 hours later, after 8 minutes of pushing. Between 1st and 2nd degree tear, 6lb 1 oz, 18"
I was induced with both
DS - 39w, 9.5 hours of labor, 30 min pushing - 3rd degree tear/episiotomy/vaginal wall explosion and dislocated/broken tailbone - he was 9lb 10oz
DD - 39w5d, 8 hours of labor, <15 min pushing - barely 2nd degree episiotomy - she was 8lb 8oz
My recoveries are drastically different since I couldn't walk after DS for a month and I feel great 5 days PP this time
#1: Induced at 40w 4d. 7.5 hour labor. .5hr of pushing. 6lbs 13oz
#2: Went into labor on my own at 39w. 12 hours of labor. 1 push and she was out. 7lbs

DS was born at exactly 39 weeks after my OB broke my water on accident during my weekly check-up. I hadn't had any contractions or other signs of labor before then, except losing my mucus plug a few days prior. I was only dilated like 2 cm. when she checked me. From water breakage to delivery, my labor was 14 hours including half an hour of pushing.
DD was born at just shy of 38 weeks after my OB broke my water per my request during my weekly check-up. I'd been having false labor for almost 3 weeks at that point and was dilated to 4. My OB was shocked I wasn't already in active labor at that point. From water breakage to delivery, my labor was 7 hours and DD was born in 2 pushes. It was MUCH faster and easier the second time around!
DS(#1) was born at 39w6d after 31 hours of labor, 5 hours of pushing. He was 8lb. 1oz.
DD(#2) was born at 39w4d after 40 hours of labor and ending in a c/s after being stuck at 9 cm for several hours. She was 6 lbs. 1oz.
DS was born at 38w5d. Water broke at home day before. Pushed for 40 minutes. Horrible recovery from multiple tears & bad hemmies.
DD was born at 38w3d. Pushed for 5 minutes & she came out on her own. Easy, breezy recovery.
GL!
DD1 - 40 weeks 2 days, 12 hours labor, 1 hour of that was pushing. 5 lb 12 ounces.
DD2 - 39 weeks 2 days, 2 hours 50 minutes labor (but got to 10 cm after less than 2 hours and had to wait for an L&D room for my MW to break my water so I could push), 15 minutes pushing. 6 lb 10 ounces.
The midwifery rule of thumb is second labors generally take about half as long as first labors. Good luck!
DS1: 39w1d, 36 hours of labor, 10-15 min pushing
DS2: 38w5d, 5 hours of labor, born 11 min after getting to the hospital. We almost didn't make it! Huge surprise since it took so long with ds1.
DD#1 was born at 37w3d - water broke - very few "signs" of labor - pushed 30min. - 6hr from water breaking to delivery.
DD#2 was born at 35weeks - had to break my water at 9cm - tons of contractions that never got "closer together and longer" - pushed for about 10 seconds - was 8cm when I got to the hospital (whoops!) so I'm not sure how long my actual labor experience was since I had contractions for days.
My two experiences were totally different!
#1 Induced at 41.5 weeks. 16 hours of labor, 30 minutes of pushing. She was born 7 pounds, 10 ounces, 19 inches.
#2 Spontaneous rupture of membranes at 37 weeks 2 days. No contractions thereafter. I was already dilated to 5cm upon arrival and was given Pitocin to start up contractions after waiting for them for 6 hours in the hospital. I labored for about 8 hours and pushed for about 5 minutes. He was born 6 pounds, 10 ounces, 19 inches.
I'd say the labor and recovery was much easier with the second. With the first, they had my Pitocin level to about 19 miliunits/min. With my second, we only got to about 6 miliunits. I had a lot less blood loss with the second.
