portable dvd players

we never go on long car rides, so the only use would be for flying 2-3x a year.  And we've book our seat 2x2, (1 adult, 1 toddler per row) so we'd need 2 DVD players.

is it really necessary do you think?  We arent flying alaska, so no digiplayers..  we are going sea-denver-quad cities (so 2 2.5 hour flights each way)  and f-me we have 40 minute connection on our flight from sea-qc.   ugh.   not even time to take the kids potty, or get me a sbux.. (which answers my question of YES bring the damn stroller/...  I am not dragging kids on a quick connection across an airport)  why on EARTH do they make such quick connections.   I pray our gates are close.

so, dvd thoughts?   do the cheap ones stink?  I really dont want to spend 150 (x2) on dvd players we'll use 2-3x a year tops.   I do want to preserve my sanity on the flights with a minimum of xanax (joke, not joke?) and already have a list of "suprises" to pack, activities and special (non-candy) snacks.  Im kind of hoping the excitement of the trip, seeing grandma and cousins, some 1-1 parent time, activities and flying for the first memorable time (theyve flown at 3, 9 and 16 mo) will negate the ned for dvd players.

Re: portable dvd players

  • Buy another iPad so they each have their own Stick out tongue

You could do 1 laptop/dvd player and 1 ipad and switch halfway through?

  • Beth didn't you just get a windows phone?  You can stream netflix on it and just use that instead of having to buy 2 dvd players?

And you can load videos to it....we do to ours directly from our DVR.  I don't know how but can ask DH and send you a FB message if you want to know how.

Not all planes have Wi Fi so the Netflix option might not work.

  • we both did tiff...  (and I hate it.   tell me how to love it.  i dont yet.  I was too much of an iphone lover and miss all the apps.   I just dont feel like the windows ones are the same.  and less applicable to my work and life.)  which is probably why I never thought of it.

and if there is a way to access w/o wifi (just in case) even better.   maybe i'll bring my little netbook too, and figure out how to load some movies to the hard drive.  Please send me a note!!   :)   I guess I also just thought the screens are so small... but probably perfect for the kids.   We have an old iphone too that functions as an itouch now for the kids and to play music.  2 windows phones, an iphone./touch and a netbook.   yeah, no dvd players needed.   just tell me how to get the kidcrack on there.

silly question:  do the kids use ear buds or buy special headphones?
