Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Recommend your Co-Sleeper/Bassinet

I'm having my first baby in August, and have been researching the best co-sleeper or bassinet.  I plan to keep my LO in my room to make nursing so much easier in the middle of the night, and initially thought the Arms Reach Co-Sleep would work well.

After looking at it, it is bulky and would make it difficult for me to get out of bed (for bathroom trips, etc) so it basically defeats the purpose of it right up next to my bed.

The next thing I looked at (which I am leaning towards) is The First Years 5 in 1 portable sleeper.  Someone else recently recommended the Fisher Price Rock n Play sleeper, but the amazon.com reviews are a bit scary (the 1 and 2 star reviews, at least).

So I am wondering what you all are using, and what has worked well for you??

TIA!!!

Re: Recommend your Co-Sleeper/Bassinet

  • I love the our rock n play.  Our LO has terrible reflux and it was a huge lifesaver.  My DS has moved into his crib now but we still use the RnP for nights he is really congested.  I highly recommend it!!!!!

  • We have the Arms Reach mini in our small Manhattan apartment and love it. It really isn't that difficult to get around to get out of bed. Maybe because it's the mini?

I love being able to just look next to me and see his face.  Nothing to look over or around.  He's right there next to me.

  • We have used and still sometimes use the Rock and Play. At 5 months we have had no problems like those listed on amazon. (I had to go check out what was said, because I have heard nothing but good things about it from mom's on the bump.) I understand your concern after reading some of the amazon reviews. I can say it has worked really well for us, but you need to do what you are comfortable with.

  • Did you see the Mini Arm's Reach?
  • The Rock and Play was the only place DS would sleep besides on us until he was 3 months old.

  • The Arms Reach mini co-sleeper works well ? less bulky. But I recently gifted my sister with a convertible co-sleeper. She was actually looking for baby bassinets but this co-sleeper serves 3 purposes! It can be converted to a bassinet, a playard and at nights it fits next to her bed.
