Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

What does everyone mean when they say their LO didn't want to sleep in their crib anymore?

Someone replied to a post that their 21 month old didn't want to sleep in her crib so they moved her to a big girl bed, and I've seen other people make similar comments and I was just wondering how you know that that's the issue versus other sleep problems?  We're going through major sleep problems now...he fights naps and going to bed on time, wakes up early and wants out of his crib right away, only wants to nap in the car. He did try to climb out of his crib a month ago but I fixed the problem by turning the folding side facing the wall. And he naps great in the pack n play at daycare. So how do I know if these sleep disruptions mean that he's not happy in his crib anymore versus some other issue like teething or nightmares?

  • For me, we got bunkbeds when #2 was 20 mo.  She didn't want anything to do with her crib anymore.  She was a horrible sleeper until she got a twin bed.
