watery discharge?

maybe i'm just paranoid. maybe i've had this type of discharge the whole time. but i'm starting to notice a more watery type of discharge recently.

should i be worried that i'm leaking fluid? it's not much, but when i go to the bathroom i notice a 2 inch wide wet patch in my underwear (sorry that's gross).

ok... thanks!

Re: watery discharge?

  • Is it clearly soaked through wet, like it feels as wet from the other side? If so, I'd be concerned, but if not, I'd guess it's just discharge. Not that that's the final word by any means, it's just the criteria I'd use for "leaking water" vs. just a lot of discharge. Also, does it smell sweet? Is it white, or clear? If you're in doubt, go to the ER and have them do the test!

  • I've noticed feeling like I'm "leaking" even when I don't have to pee. It's annoying, but I'm assuming its discharge. It doesn't smell sweet or anything.

  • When in doubt, get it checked out! I had the same concerns, went in and got checked out- all was thankfully fine. They told me that they would rather see a mom-to-be come into L&D 10 times before the real thing rather than have her worry at home and maybe dismiss a concern that may be very important.

  • It could be sweat (gross I know but it happens a lot in the 3rd trimester even when you don't realize you are sweating) or it could be traces of urine that leaked out at some point.  If it has a sweet smell to it definitely call your doctor right away.  Try wearing a panty liner and change it when you notice it's wet. If it continues to become wet every time you change it then I would be more worried too.

Same here, I just noticed it a few days ago. It's gross, but doesn't smell sweet and isn't enough for me to feel worried about. But of course, if you are worried then go to L&D just to be on the safe side.
