Hey Ladies,
I am still pretty stuck in bed (I'll get my catheter out this morning and my iv out too). So, I'm pretty bored. I can't go down to the NICU myself. We took a pic of Gabe with my sister last night, you can really get a better idea of his size in it.
She isn't a petite girl, 5'6" and average build. Check out his tiny (literally smaller than an overnight maxipad diaper). Pretty crazy!
I will say, my connection to him is growing and growing. I woke up this morning and totally realized I am a mom (and I felt like one). Pretty cool!!
Also, I did find out that I had a partial placental abruption. They don't know when it occurred, but it was obvious when they took out my placenta that there was a large area that had detached (and clotted). Also, he had a bm inside (which is SUPER unusual for his age). This means he was uber stressed and is probably why he sent out the sos to get him out of there on Thursday night. We are very lucky he is such a good little communicator.
(insert hormonal sentimental mush) I Hope you ladies are all doing great. As much as I love our little guy and am glad he is doing great, I wouldn't wish this on any of you. You all keep those babies cooking. I will say, I'm excited for you all now though. I know how cool it will be when you get to have your LOs in person. I finally see why other moms were so excited for me. You are all going to be GREAT! (End of hormonal sentimental mush)
Hopefully I'll be on less in the next several days (since I am supposed to be able to start walking and stuff today). I'm allowed to be in the NICU almost 24hrs a day, so I'm going to try to take full advantage of that! But, I'll update as I can.

I'm so glad to hear that your connection him is growing. I identified with a lot of your "I'm kinda detached" posts (because I feel the same way)...I'm really glad to hear that once the baby is here, it changes.
He's so precious! Continued t+ps for both you!

He looks great! Glad to hear things are going well. Take care & keep us posted.
Oh Katie, he is just so precious... and so tiny! He looks like he could fit into the palm of your sister's hand.
You're doing an incredible job handling such a stressful situation. You're already a terrific momma! Gabe is one lucky little guy!
I'm glad that they figured out what was causing the placental insufficiency/IUGR. Did you have any bleeding at all? Any indicators on your ultrasounds? I'm just so thankful that you were so in tune with your body and your Drs were proactive.
Rest up today & I look forward to more updates about you & your beautiful son!

It's great to hear that you both are doing well. He is a little doll. I'm so proud of these strong preemies we have so far. It's great that they will let you stay in nicu with him so much. I'd take advantage of it too.
