Ok...so I know this is still 7 weeks out, but Im anal, so bear with me.
Im starting to pack my hospital bag & am considering coming home outfits for baby girl. Im due July 3rd & am wondering if it is ok to have a cutsie sundress to bring her home in? I'll have a blanket on hand to wrap her up in, & its only a 10 minute drive home; but am wondering if she needs something warmer to wear at first. Thoughts? TIA!

Re: Coming home outfit
Do you realy want to try to get a newborn into a cute dress?? Mine is coming home in a sleeper, it's easy and comfortable to the LO.
Dresses are almost pointless on a newborn, they're all balled up at that point when they aren't being swaddled. The dress rides up around their torso, its more of a hassle than its worth.
I understand for pictures, but not for the car ride home.
I have a little dress, but it's terrycloth with short sleeves and just buttons on one side of the chest (so I guess it's a little tiny wrap dress?). I'm sure it will get all out of place, but it's cute, soft, and seems easy to get on a baby.
Maybe something along those lines would be more functional? If your concern is keeping baby warm enough for the ride, make sure you have socks for her feet, and a blanket handy.
Really all the dress is is a little pair of bloomers, and a pull over the head dress. Its not a complicated, frilly, button thing. Im just wondering if she'll be warm enough. Of course I'll have socks, a hat, & a blanket just in case. I'll also have another outfit (most likely just a onesie or sleep bag) if the dress doesnt work out.

I'm just impressed that you're packing 7 weeks out! I only have a couple left and haven't even started.
Maybe I should get on that.
Put her in what you want to put her in. I don't think there's anything wrong with dressing her in little cotton sundresses (especially if you have a blanket). Babies don't have to live solely in onesies and sleepers.

I don't think there's any rule on what you can or cannot bring your baby home in -- as long as you can strap your baby into a car seat safely in that outfit, she'll be fine!
With that being said, I went back and forth too! I live in a pretty hot climate (Phoenix), but I still decided to do a light sleeper anyway. It seems easy to put her in, and she'll be in air conditioning for pretty much the entire time ... I was worried that it might be hard to buckle her into the seat with a gown (no legs) and with how hot car seat belts get out here, I didn't want her legs exposed ... I don't know if there are valid concerns or not though!
Your daughter's name is very interesting- how is it pronounced?
I'm having a boy, but I'm putting him in a short-sleeved onesie, and a hat. I'll have a blanket for the car. My mom told me to dress baby how I would dress myself (meaning not a ton of clothes in July), so I'm going to follow her advice.
A onesie with long sleeves, some socks, a hat, and a blanket to cover the baby in the carseat. That is all.
I am also wondering how to pronounce your LO's name.
Anything over-the-head can be tricky with a newborn. I wish I'd had more side closure outfits for my LO. Just my two cents.
Bring her home in what ever you want. This is what I brought my girls home in.

I plan to bring #3 home in a dress as well, just not sure of which one yet. She is due 7-11.
Baby's name is pronounced Lin-yah. We wanted something interesting, but not too crazy ;-) Its Welsh in origin & fairly rare over there as well.
Im gonna take a couple cute outfits (dress included) and just see what feels right when we're ready to come home!
Thanks all!
