I was lurking on the May board and a bumpie was complaining about her loud hospital roomie and the roomie's 1 million guests.
Got me to thinking...how many of you ladies are not going to be in a suite/private room?
Does your hospital give a celebration dinner? Any other special perks?
My hospital has all private suites and the parents get a celebration dinner of either steak, lobster or chicken and a bottle or champagne.

My hospital has all private rooms, but no celebration dinner
I am jealous
I was concerned about the rooms where I will be delivering. DH warned me that the rooms were not private (he was a security guard for a few years there before getting hired by the police department). I was happy to learn when we had our tour a few weeks ago that all the rooms are private. Some are bigger to allow for doubling up if needed...but at 34 rooms...really don't think that will be necessary.
No celebration dinner...but don't really care about that.
Don't be! I am VEGETARIAN lol. DH will enjoy the chicken though lol.
This!
Definitely private!!! That's all we have. Was the poster Canadian? I know group or semi-private rooms are more common there.
As for the dinner...I have no idea. I'll have to ask (I doubt it thought). I'm giving birth at Presby Rockwall. Where are you going? Wherever it is, it sounds nice and I'm wishing I had looked in the Plano area. Haha.
Baylor Frisco. FYI Baylor McKinney just open and is accepting patients with an EDD of 5/15 or later. I hear they are going to be just as nice (something to keep in mind for your next one)
I thought about Presby Plano but its too far if there is traffic. I am glad I didn't choose Presby Plano b/c I ended up having to drive myself with contractions 7 mins apart to L&D.

Me too!
Thanks. I always wanted to do Baylor (or a Baylor branch) because I was born at Baylor Dallas. However, my OB only gave me 2 options. I honestly probably won't stick with her for the next one though. So, I may have to look into ones off 190 or something.
I have no idea what the rooming situation is like at my hospital...I knew I should have gone on the dang tour!
But they do offer a celebration dinner for a fee...its an optional thing that you have to sign up for. I havent even asked DH what he thinks about it yet.
Mine has all private rooms as well as an optional celebration dinner (for 75.00) as well as optional massages and mani/pedis (didn't check prices on those). It is run very much like a hotel, the front desk looks like a hotel front desk and there is concierge service. A little over the top in my opinion but I am not complaining about delivering there either!

all rooms are private. If they were not I would play extra...
Not sure about the dinner..

I wonder if we are delivering at the same hospital as I also have Kaiser and live in Northern Orange County.
It's pretty likely considering there is only 1 in North County. I am delivering at Kaiser Anaheim on Lakeview.

All the rooms in the hospital I'm delivering at are private rooms, you labor and deliver in them. They're really nice, I'm actually quite excited because the beds are even pretty comfy.
As for the celebration dinner, I forgot to ask, but I'm pretty sure they do. I don't think I'll be getting it though, I'd rather send DH or his son out to get something.
I've never heard of a celebration dinner at a hospital! We don't have one, but DH can run out and round up our own celebration dinner!
All L&D rooms at our hospital are private. Most post-partum rooms are private, but there is one room that can be shared if the space is needed. Sounds like that's a pretty rare occurrence, but it is a possibility. I hope that doesn't happen!

Our new hospital will open on May 22, it will have all private rooms. The current hospital has some private and some shared rooms.
I'm assuming I will have this baby after May 22 so I will have a private room, not sure about the dinner.

BFP!! 8/29/16 --> EDD: 5/11/17....it's a GIRL!!!
My hospital has all private rooms, a celebration dinner (which we've never eaten, I prefer for DH to go pick me up food at one of the resturaunts near by), massage services and a super cute (and tasty!) mini-birthday cake that you get the night you give birth!
We also get a silver baby spoon & a newspaper from the day the baby was born.
We have private rooms for delivery and recovery. They look like hotel rooms! They also give us a celebration dinner and we can sign up for a massage. The maternity wing is only 3 years old, so it's REALLY nice. DH will have a couch that pulls out to sleep on and he's offered all sorts of snacks/drinks/juices free of charge while he's with me. The visitor's waiting room is also beautiful with flat screen TVs and an expresso machine. Yes, I'm very glad we picked this hospital instead of the stinky one closer to our house. Too bad they can't wait to kick you out once you've had your baby. LOL
My hospital has all private rooms and some larger suites you can upgrade too. Also they do the same celebration dinner of steak, lobster or chicken with champagne.
OP are we delivering at the same hospital. I'm in Plano too! I'll be at Plano Medical Center!
i'm delivering in scottsdale and they have all private rooms from what i read on the internet
they also offer an in-room spa menu. manis, pedi's, facials, massages... which i thought was cool
i'll find out more when i go on my tour, but that would be awesome if they did a celebration dinner! well awesome for dh anyway, i'll be on my clear liquids diet after the cs
Ours has all private rooms, except one...so if there are a lot of babies born at the same time as mine, I may have to share a room...and my hubby wouldn't be allowed to stay
Our hospital does a celebration dinner as well with choice of steak, lobster, etc...
Our hospital has a newly remodeled (this year) maternity wing and all rooms are private. I'm not sure about a celebration dinner, but I do get a complementary mani/pedi and massage for delivering there. The massage is off-campus and can be scheduled during the pregnancy or after delivery. Looking forward to it!
