Playground help!

First time posting on here. Not a mom, but an aunt :)

My niece is 1 (well on the 27th). She is full of energy and has been walking since 7 months. I want to get her out in this nice weather today to a park. But the ones with the bark, sand or stones scare me a bit. She's a good walker but she will still loose her balance, especially on not flat surfaces and I don't want her falling every second. Also she is very much in to putting everything in her mouth.

My question is, could anyone recommend a playground in the Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Lake Forest Park area that is that flat rubber ground stuff? Or grass. If they have swings that would be a plus! Even just a kids school playground would work.

Thanks!

Re: Playground help!

  • If she's been walking that long she should be fine on the bark.... Yeah she might trip, but it's not a big deal - she won't get hurt.

Lynnwood has many nice parks. There are three that have toddler playgrounds--South Lynnwood Neighborhood Park, on 61st, Spruce Park, on 36th, and Wilcox Park, on 196th. Most of the others have wood chips, though, and not the rubber, but they're still nice. There's Daleway Park, on 64th, that has tot swings, Dragon Park, on 44th (by Lynnwood Elementary), and Lynndale Park, on 72nd (near Lynndale Elementary). Also, both Daleway and Dragon Park have "sprinklers" that they turn on during the summer months. Have fun!

  • Lynndale is good because you can go walk. There is also City Park in Edmonds. They have swings and bark and some small slides. Greenlake is an awesome place to take a kiddo that age. In the summer they have a wading pool.
