How to stop LO from rolling when getting changed.

DD literally had poop from head to toe, including me and a well covered change pad. She will not stay still and instantly rolls when you put her down to change her diaper. Then she peed while I was trying to get her to stay still to put a diaper on.

I put her back and tell her no rolling and obviously she has no clue what I mean but I have no other ideas or tricks.

Help me ladies...I am tired of cleaning poop.

I would love to know a trick, but unfortunately I've got nothing. For a long time giving him a toy to play with was enough, but now he fights me at diaper changes and nothing will distract him. He'll get poop on his hands, feet, head, etc with all of his flailing and fighting. Sometimes I can get a diaper on him when he's standing or wriggling around, but trying to wipe off poop when he won't hold still is another story.

I keep a box of cookies next to the change table. That usually keeps her occupied long enough to get a change done.

Something to hold. Not a toy. Something like a remote or equally interesting / desired / forbidden

I also cross his legs over his belly, hold them with one hand so I've got them both at mid calf and then press toward his belly, that way he can't sneak a hand under his legs and down to his willy. It also means he can't straighten out and push up and away from me to try and roll.

A bottle, a sippy, a cookie - really anything that is more interesting that crawling off of the table! It's the only thing that keeps DD from doing the same thing. Although, if my dog walks into the room, fighting her is a lost cause - she is more interested in him than anything right now.

We have a special toy--a singamajig--that she only gets when she's on the changing table. It works about 75% of the time.

Distraction is key. I ditto the PP that said give them a forbidden item. Or just something that is only for changing time. I usually give DS the tube of A&D or the bottle of moisturizer, etc. and he's good. Also, we recently moved and there's a ceiling fan in his room that he is ALL.ABOUT. So that has been a tremendous help.

I usually give DS something to hold. If that doesn't work, then I make a loud noise or clap and say "NO". It makes DS jump and he just stares at me.

I give her a book or a toy. If that doens't work, I give her a tube of Desitin to hold. If that doesn't work, I get right in her face and start kissing her or giving her rasberries. If that doens't work, I put my hand on her chest to try to keep her as still as I can. If that doesn't work, then I'm screwed. GL!

I was giving DD a tube of Desitin, until she figured out how to open the darn thing. Now I sing, "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands." She just figured out how to clap to that song, so she always stops what she's doing to clap. That should get me through another week, at least.

Sometimes if I buckle them in it prevents them from rolling for a little bit. I also give them a forbidden toy. I hate the crocodilian death roll!

We have a special toy too. We call it the diaper monkey and she only gets to play with it while we change her. But I agree it only works about 75% of the time. I try to give anything I usually don't let her have to keep her still.
