Babies on the Brain

Oh, God, it gets worse!

Local news is breaking in to give voting tips from the League of Women Voters.

If you are going to vote today, please be sure to wear comfortable shoes!  Take some food and water (because the lines are so long you may get dehydrated?)! Be sure to use the bathroom before you get in line! And take some reading or maybe a puzzle book!

  • Seriously?  It's not a marathon - it's voting.  I am pregnant and I stood in line in 4 inch high heels.  If I can wait without water, a bathroom break, or comfy shoes, then anyone can!  GEEZ.
  • I wonder if I stand in line with my crying baby if someone will let me go to the front. They should have that as a tip.

But Doodle, not everyone is a badass like yourself! Wink

  • I took a book with me when I voted.  I stood in line for almost 2 hours.  I'm glad I had a book, and some fireballs to suck on.
  • ::sigh::

I wish RI mattered. I did not have to wait at all. Not that I'm complaining, but when I hear about the polling places being jam-packed, then I go and find my place almost empty, it's depressing. Of course, we are a fairly rural district so there aren't that many people anyway.

  • I doubt the lines are bad at mine either Heather and I am in MD we all know Obama wins here. All the states I have lived in have always been dem there is never a question.

It would be the day there would be a line though since I will have to take the fart machine with me.

But the real question is - were you wearing comfortable shoes?

I nearly always have a book with me, so that was unsurprising.  But did we really have to break in for that?

Local news is so dramatic.  I remember TS Edouard.  It ended up being a non-event of some rain.  They were so desparate to justify their full time coverage of the non-event they had a reporter standing out in a 'flooded' street talking about what a good thing it was that he had worn hip waders, because this street had dangerously high water.  And the cameraman evidently had a sense of humor or didn't like him, because he panned back to show the reporter standing in ankle-deep water.  Another reporter reported about the dangers of clogged street drains - his example was one tiny little branch in the drain that he could literally have picked up and moved himself.

    SO overwrought.

Nope! I was told it was against the law to let anyone who is not visibly handicapped skip to the front of the line. You cannot even let someone skip you to be nice because they're elderly, sick, crying child or anything. I waited in line for 45 minutes under my new name. Rejected. Registrar people didn't update my info as I had already filed to have it done. She told me I had to go to the back of the line of where my old name fell. WTF. I have been here so long already. Someone at the front of the line I needed to be in offered to let me skip. She hollered at him telling him that was illegal. Weird. I just left because I was already running behind for work. I'll try and go tonight. I don't know why people make things so damn difficult.

  • yeah I stood in line in 3 inch boots with a smoothie for 2 hours on Saturday. It really wasn't that big of a deal.
  • you're my hero.  i thought the images of wearing cute shoes when pregnant/chasing after kids was just a fantasy.

then again, i can't wear 4 inch heels now.  i'm too clutzy.

  • My DH and I got up early and only waited about 20 mins and that was because they weren't open yet. By 7am though there was a line of about 60 ppl. Saw two cars get stuck in the ditch out front and a car accident!!
