I thought I had my ob/gyn and hospital all planned out, and then my husband's insurnace changed from bc/bstx (love) to kelsey seybold (unsure over this one so far).
I had been planning on having our baby (eventually, we are just starting ttc) at Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands, but now I likely have to go to St. Luke's in The Woodlands. I have a friend who had a less than great birthing experience there, and I am wondering if anyone else can give some positive reviews to calm me a little!!!
We moved to the area a few years ago (no family and not many close friends yet) and most of the mothers I know have had their babies elsewhere, so I hope someone can calm my nerves :-)
Re: stressing over insurance & hospital change
lol yes, you too? Have you chosen an ob/gyn yet?
I only have one friend who has had a baby at St. Lukes and she had to beg for a lactation consultant, and only got to see her a few minutes before they were scheduled to leave. I am hoping she was just having "one of those experiences" and that the rest better than hers was!
We had my son at St. Lukes in the Woodlands this past February and I had an EXCELLENT experience. The nurses were awesome and the lacatation consultant who was there was very helpful (I took her breast feeding class prior to having the baby as well). She came into too see us the day after I had Jett and spent 30 minutes with us on any questions or concerns I had. If you are having trouble with BF they have clinics you can come to with the lactation consultant to help you out.
I would go there again to have our future children there. If you have any questions you can email me lizmartin05@gmail.com

I had my 1st at St. Luke's in The Woodlands and went to Kelsey for all docs. I had a beyond wonderful experience and was really sad I couldn't have my son there (I moved out of the city). Dr. Jennifer Brezeale wasn't my doc at the time but she was the doc on call when my DD was born and she was so wonderful that I switched to her afterwards.
I went in on a Sat afternoon and had DD Sun. morning. She was jaundice and they wanted her to stay to monitor her so she had to stay until Thursday. Instead of discharging me and sending me home without her they found an empty room that wasn't a birthing room and let me stay until she could go home. The nurses were fabulous during my long labor and I have no complaints about the LC.
On another positive note - the food there is pretty good! That was a big deal for me since I was there for 6 days.

I thought the same thing about the food. It was surprisingly good. I gobbled up one of their pizzas. ha!
