I can't decide what I want to stress out about more...
1- Holy crap, people won't stop tracking me down during the day to tell me their nightmare induction stories! I'm sorry the pitocin was horrible, I'm sorry the cervadil was God-awful, I'm sorry your epi didn't work and you had a 90-some hour labor... tell me happy stories, please!!!!
2- Both sides of family planning to come from ~2 hours away the night BEFORE the induction and "just wait" in the waiting room for however long it takes for baby to get here... did I mention they don't get along and hate each other? Nothing to worry about there while I'm in labor...
3- Not packed, have no preemie sized clothes and no time left to order any. We were told again today not to expect her to be any more than 4 pounds, so be prepared. My baby will be naked for her first weeks of life because her mother can't get her crap together.
4- Last day at work is tomorrow and I'm still writing sub plans and gathering end-of-year paperwork.... students don't get out for another month and I'm scrambling.
5- Got a "pre-bill" from the hospital today for an estimated $4000 delivery/hospital stay. If all goes well. Oh yeah, and since I'm leaving work before my anticipated date, I have to pay $1000 toward my maternity leave.
Oh, decisions, decisions.... what should I stay up worrying about all night tonight??
Re: 4 days left till baby... STRESSING OUT!!!!
1 - you'll have to learn to tell people with horrible stories that you really don't need to hear scary stories because you're already scared as you are! You don't need that kind of stress now or ever!
2 - don't worry about them not getting along, you've got a bigger task in your hands!
3 - just throw in a couple of undies, comfortable clothes to go home in for you and H, (they always have toothbrush in hospitals, I used to work there if you ever forget these). As for LO's premie outfit, can't you ask someone to run to Target or BRU for you?
4 - they'll survive without you! ok, I'm not a teacher. I don't know what really goes into this when you're taking a leave of absence.
5 - do you not have insurance? sorry but my pre-bill is less than $400
Don't stay up worrying about things that you cannot control. It really won't help anything or anyone. You'll see...it will all work out in the end! GL!
I am also a teacher and will possibly be induced on Tuesday too! I have put on bed rest, and I am very lucky that my teammates at school have taken over and refuse to let me do anything from home. They have taken care of everything for me.
Don't stress out too much... just think about one thing at a time instead of all of the things you want to accomplish at once. Good luck!!!!!
You are so sweet!
OP, I'm sorry you are so stressed out! But just think - you will be holding your LO in just a few short days
It will all be worth it. Good luck!
1- If it helps you feel any better my induction went great! Got induced in the morning had my epi that night, got some sleep and DS was born the next afternoon. Everyone has a different experience, so just breath and focus on the fact that you will have a LO at the end of it all.
2- Call your family (and have DH call his) and tell them to f off. You want some time after LO is born to bond and relax and get to know this tiny little person that was inside you for so long. This is something that you and DH want to do alone and after a few days you will call them to come meet her.
3-Go to Target and pick up some preemie sizes of clothes and socks so you have something to take her home in. And once home you can order more to get you through.
4-Your paper work will get done, trust in that fact.
5-I have never heard of a pre-bill before. But dont stress, the hospital will work with you and you can go on a payment plan. You dont have to pay it all up front. Also talk to the hospital's billing dept. you might qualify for them to cover part of the bill.
Take one thing at a time. If you break it down and look at one problem at a time you will not feel so overwhelmed. You still have time to get things done, and you dont have to deal with the bill untill after LO is here. So focus on what you have to get done and take a deep breath. GL!!!
I wouldn't stay up worrying, I'd get all the rest I could before that LO arrives.
How exciting!
I can understand as a teacher how you are stressing. I don't know when my daughter will be born, so I feel like I am scrambling as well trying to get everything done and ready for a possible sub.
As for paying $1000, I think that is terrible. In my district, we are able to change our leave day as needed. How does anyone really know when their last day will be? That is ridiculous! What if you were put on bedrest at 20 weeks? They really should be more flexible.
Good luck with everything. Once your DD is born, none of this will matter.
You ladies are always awesome.... thanks for the encouragement! I didn't realize until I came back and looked again at this that it is a major rant and basically just me whining. Sorry about that. We all have craziness right now, don't we? Trying to keep a positive attitude about all of it, and hoping for the best. They say you're never really prepared, right? And Gym, you are right... next week at this time I'll be holding my little girl!! Just gotta get there...
BTW- no clue how to send a pm... REALLY appreciate the offer for preemie clothes (from another Addison's mommy
That is very sweet of you! This board is seriously the best!
