Fun twin activities? (where you don't need 2 parents)

I do take the girls swimming, but DH goes to those evening classes w/me.  Sometimes on these beautiful days, I'd like to try out something more than just a walk in the neighborhood.

I thought of the local Zoo....

any other fun stuff you've had luck with going solo?  Thanks Ladies! Smile

  • anything that they can stay in the stroller :)

the play areas in my local malls are great b/c they have one entrance/exit and i can see them all the whole time.... we go there a lot in the cold months.

we have one kid's play place that i was able to take them to when they weren't walking yet- but now that they are i can't go alone b/c Grayson runs to the back rooms constantly.

we used our backpack leashes the other day at Sesame Place for the 2nd time (the first time we tried was only with Gray and he HATED it - that was last summer).... and it worked great for them this time - so i might try more stuff with them out of the stroller on my own using those --- but for a long time it has been impossible to do a lot of things alone - esp b/c i have a 3rd, but even with just the 2 it's not safe for a lot of things without another adult around.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • While on walks, we hit up the park.  Both will fit in an infant swing together (see my siggy)  They love it!

The zoo was really fun for us this week - and despite not having planned it to death, it went fabulously!

I've done infant classes with the girls since they were 3 months old.  We do it through our school district.  There's some unstructured play time, 'circle time' where we sing songs, do activities, and read books, then a helper comes in while the kids play and the parents have a discussion.  If your district doesn't offer something like this I've also heard of libraries doing something like this.  It's been great for us, and something we look forward to every week.

There's also an indoor playground near us that has an under 3 area.  We go there at least once a week because kids under 1 are free.  It has some small climbing structures, and other age appropriate toys and books for little ones.  There's one way in/out, and it's a pretty open space so it's easy for me to keep my eye on both at the same time.  It's kept really clean and free of choking hazards.  I bring some antibacterial hand and face wipes, and wipe them down before and after.  They have a blast and it tires them out!

  • When they weren't as mobile we went to the splash pad a lot. The boys love playing in the park. Also went to the indoor mall play area and the park. Recently we've been  to the zoo.

Now that they are running and climbing these things are actually harder. They can do things big kids can, like climb up the slide stairs, but they're just starting to understand the concept that they can't just walk down the slide, but have to sit down. So with two at this particular stage I don't go without DH. I anticipate that as they learn how to navigate the slides and stop when i say stop I'll be able to do those alone again.

I just took my kids by myself to my library's play time for kids under 11 months. I was nervous but it was fine not having a 2nd adult.

At that age, pretty much anything.  I did the botanical gardens and zoo quite a bit, walks at local parks, etc.  I think it was easier to do stuff at their age then where my girls are now because now they want to get out of the stroller and walk which is more complicated to push the stroller plus keep track of two toddlers.  Enjoy it by going anywhere you'd like!  :-)

  • Before mine were walking, I took them everywhere by myself except swimming. Now that they're running/climbing I have to be more discriminating. Our frequent activities: zoo, aquarium, soft play area in mall, music class, library, and toddler playground at a local church.

  • Thank you everyone!
