Where did you get LOs name?

Truitt Edward: DH's uncle and grandfather were both Henry Truett Lastname, but I didn't want Henry b/c it's too popular. I loved the name Truett from the 1st time I heard it and knew we would name a son that. I wanted the traditional 1st name spelling of Truitt. When spelled with an "e" it's most commonly a surname. Edward is my brother's name.

Mathis Hale: Mathis is a town in TX where DH used to camp a lot as a boy. It's right outside of Corpus, where he grew up. Hale is a name DH liked and I didn't have anything better to offer and we went with it.

Like others, I wanted real names, pretty easy to pronounce, but not too trendy. They also had to be sort of simple because our last name is very long.

Change "long" to "terrible and constantly misspelled/mispronounced"and this is me exactly.

Our kids are Leah Claire and Alex Michael. They're not named after anyone, we just found names we liked that were short & sweet, and not especially popular. Leah wasn't even in the top 50 when we chose it but it's becoming more common (thanks, Teen Mom!) and Alex isn't all that common either. Alexander sounds terrible with our last name so we used the shorter version.

Joshua Royal- Joshua was DH's cousin's name. He died when DH was 17. We picked it to honor him. Royal is DH's name.

Gabriel Joseph- Gabriel was just a name we picked out of a book that sounded good with Joseph. Joseph is my dad's middle name.

Elijah David- Elijah DH picked when he was drunk and we both liked it. It was also on our short list for Gabriel. David was a last minute pick. Literally it was between James and David and after he was born I told DH pick one. He went with David.

We could only agree on one first name, Maximus, Max for short. The middle name was decided early and was no issue. It is a passed down family name on DH's side, it's Sicilan and very unique and I love it.

Samuel Ezra--Samuel is a family name. We chose Ezra because DH's initials are SEH, and he thought it would be neat to have the same initials. Plus I've always thought it was a cool name.

Hannah Jeanne--there was a character on Felicity named Hannah (Noel's girlfriend) and I thought it was so pretty and classic. Of course by the time I had kids, there were tons of Hannahs, and it was the height of the Hannah Montana craze, so everyone called her that. Blech. Jeanne is my middle name, and it was my mother's before me, so I carried on the tradition.

If Sam would have been a girl, we would have used Ava Jeanne.

If Hannah would have been a boy, we would have used Seth Elijah (continuing the SEH theme).

Maren Michele - Funny enough, I first saw the name Maren here on TN, way back in 2003-2004 when I was a regular poster. It was the name of another member who was on the baby boards and it just stuck with me. I really like the sound of "M" names for some reason, and it also fit our criteria of strong, feminine, simple, and unique. I knew it was "the" name as soon as I heard it. Michele is my mom's first name.

Blake Anthony - Blake is MIL's maiden name. We weren't originally planning to go with a family name, but we were finding that nothing else felt/sounded right. Blake just seemed to fit and it also met our criteria for a strong, simple, and not super common name. Anthony is DH's first name.

Connor was a name we could both agree on that we thought sounded good with our very Italian last name. DH has told me more recently that he first heard the name in the Highlander movies and liked it. His middle name is Charles which is a family name on both sides. It was my late FIL's first name, my Dad's middle name and also my maternal grandfather's first name.

Alexander Ziad - Alexander is just a name we both liked a lot. My brother suggested it and it just stuck. Ziad is DH's middle name and FIL's first name.

Foster Selim - My great-grandfather and grandfather were both named Foster. It is also my uncles's middle name. Selim is DH's name.

Matthew Samir - (the baby we lost last year) We wanted to name him Matthew because it means "gift from God" and Samir was after DH's cousin that was killed in a car accident.

This baby is Emily Samira. Emily because Alex has always asked for a sister named Emily and we both like the name. Samira is to honor baby Matthew and DH's cousin.

Ella Noelle - We had a really hard time deciding the first name. We picked Noelle as the middle name because her due date was so close to Christmas. I threw it out there one day and DH immediately liked it. We didn't decided on the first name until about 6 hours after she was born. DH really liked the name Emma, but I told him it was way too popular. I had no idea that Ella was as popular as it is. We both liked Ella and we like the way it flows together. People either hate the way it flows together or love it. We obviously love it.

Reagan Evelyn - We liked the name Reagan and my husband is a huge Ronald Reagan fan. It was a little different and not quite so popular when we picked it out. Evelyn is after DH's grandmother who passed away. I was quite honored to have been able to announce this to DH's grandfather as he passed away a couple of month's before Reagan was born. It was a special moment and he was honored.

Abigail Lauren - Nothing special and she was a hard one to name. I was stuck between Abigail and Olivia. DH made the final decision. I was determined not to call her Abby but then she was just so darn tiny and Abigail was too big for her.

If we ever have a son he will have the name Cole as his middle name to honor my family (it's my moms maiden name). It was originally going to be the first name but after it got so popular I changed that. I think his first name may be Wesley - totally pulled form the Princess Bride.

If we have a third girl...............I have no idea............

Kaley Renee- Kaley is a name I have liked since I was a little girl. I wanted to spell it Kayley but DH didnt like it like that so we spelled it like Haley with with a K. Renee is a spinoff of my middle name Denee.

Carter James- Carter is a name I just threw out there and we both agreed on. James is DH middle name and a family name on my side. I didn't think about it being a family name until after we decided on the name.

Aubrey Susan- Aubrey once again is a name I threw out there and DH liked. Susan is after my MIL's middle name.

I think it is funny I somehow named all three kids with the input of DH. It just kind of happened that he liked what I suggested and we went with it. We wanted the kids to have names that weren't super popular. DH has a very common name and I have a fairly common name as well.

Mia Joy -- "My Joy" After not being sure we'd be able to have kids, it seemed to fit. We both loved the name Mia and Joy is my middle name. We also have the same initials (MJD).

Micah Emily -- Oh was she a hard one to name. DH wanted to continue the M theme, I didn't. Finally, I said that if we were going with Ms, I liked Micah. It means "Who is like the Lord" and I love the book of Micah (because I'm a weirdo) and specifically the verse Micah 6:8 (which is her special verse): "He has shown thee, O Man, what is good and what the Lord requires of thee. But to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God." Emily is after DH's middle name (Emory) and she has his initials (MED).

I will explain this baby's name when he's born.

Jackson Maurice - both names are after DH's grandfathers

Reese Evelyn - Reese is just a name we instantly loved and it went well with Evelyn which is after my grandmother (and also, DH's grandfather Maurice went by the name Reesey which is what we call Reese 90% of the time so it is kind of a family name as well)

We couldn't agree on a boy name. We were flipping through a name book at Barnes and Noble, and got to to end (and still no agreement!) and got to Zachary. We both liked it. Then, DH nixed it b/c his cousin's son is named Zachary, so they would have the same name (he is 10). We tried out Benjamin Alan for awhile, but it didn't stick quite as much as Zachary Joseph, so DH eventually changed his mind and called his cousin to make sure she wouldn't mind if they had the same name (different middle). Joseph was my grandfather's name.

Jett Michael is named after his grandmother. Her name is Jeanette and we just shorten it too Jett.

The other boy named we really like was Memphis (from the character of gone in 60 seconds) Cooper (the pedis doctor on Private Practice).

Holy cow - that's my godson's name exactly. For a second there I though you were his mom...then I realized that I recognized your nest name.

That is too funny. I love his name...if you hear it real quick sounds like Brett Michaels...oh well. :-)

Audric: It's a French name, and easy to pronounce and spell, and it's rare

Avery Grace: Avery was picked from a name book and I liked it immediately even thought we said we wouldn't get attached to names until we were confident we'd actually have a baby given our history. I couldn't help it and ran with Avery. Grace because we felt like it was by the Grace of God that we had a child.

Joseph Gabriel: Joseph is DH's middle name. Gabriel is my Dad's name.

Dylan - it's just random, it got mentioned while we were brainstorming names, and it wasn't already used (we knows tons of little boys so naming is very hard). James is his middle name, and it's also DH's middle name, his grandpa's name, his uncle's name, his cousin's name, my grandpa's middle name, my other grandpa's name, my dad's middle name, and my brother's middle name.

Braylon - I heard it while listening to football and mentioned I liked the name. Definitely NOT named after the NFL player though. He's not a good role model at all... Cory is his middle name - DH's first name.

I wanted an irish name, so we settled on Kylie. I had secretly always wanted a kid with the nickname Ky for some reason. Once I saw her on the ultrasound screen I thought, Kylie was all wrong.

So I started pushing for Adeline or Addison. DH thought I was just taking the M off names I'd liked. Finally when I saw Addison on Grey's Anatomy I pointed out I didn't make it up and DH agreed to it. It was the only thing we could agree on. Her middle name is Laureen after my mom.

The first weekend DH and I spent together was in Georgia, and we had planned a trip there for our anniversary this year & planned on starting TTC. We found out I was pregnant a week before our annivrsary, so we knew we would name a little girl Georgia.

Lillian is a family name (most recently my great grandmother).

We picked out Tyler Christian. My DH wanted a strong Texas name and Christian for the middle because it went well with Tyler and I have always loved that name for a first or middle name.

If we had girl she would of been Audrey b/c my love for Audrey Hepburn and Grace for the middle name.
