We have a new nanny starting this week and I'm working on an info sheet for her that includes DD's favorite foods and meal ideas (she will feed DD bfast/lunch/dinner Mon-Thurs). We're in a TOTAL dinner rut right now. Care to share some of your LO's favorites, along with your go-to options for when you desperately have to get dinner on the table?
Some of the staples in our routine are:
- meatloaf (sliced and frozen for easy defrosting)
- homemade 'fried' rice (brown rice with lots of frozen veggies + scrambled egg)
- tortilla with ham, cheese and avocado
- english muffin pizza
- "pizza chicken" (chicken parm)
- any form of noodles with tomato sauce (i whir up veggies to sneak in) or mac'n'cheese (from this weelicious recipe)
ETA: I know this belongs on the Toddler boards but I've pretty much given up all my other boards and spend all my time here now!
Re: Moms of toddlers (NBR)
*Hummus and pita bread (he could LIVE on this alone)- can also give with veggies
*Peanut butter & jelly sandwiches
*Quesadilla- typically done quickly in a microwave
*Turkey hot dogs
*Chicken nuggets (organic from Whole Foods)
DH travels a TON, so I hate to make big meals for just the two of us. I make these things alot for dinner.
- Chicken patties, mac&cheese, and green beans
- Meatloaf and mashed potatoes
- Breakfast for dinner
- Baked chicken, usually in a zesty italian dressing or a Lawrys marinade
- Chicken puffs (shredded chicken mixed with cream cheese and garlic powder placed into crescent rolls)
HTH!
Not the healthiest, but here are some of DS's favorites:
* grilled cheese
* pizza
* tortolini with sauce
* meatballs (my homemade ones that we freeze)
* chicken tenders
* mac & cheese
ya we really need to work on the veggie thing...he LOVED veggies pureed but won't eat them whole now
Also as "dessert" we give him yogurt or applesauce and usually fruit with every meal. At least he loves something healthy!

Quick go-to: grilled cheese, chicken quesadillas, corn dogs, pizza snacks
Wow - I am so impressed. Honestly, I consider it a significant personal victory when I get DS to eat ANYTHING other than Kraft mac & cheese. He's obsessed - literally asks for "mac cheese" when I ask him what he wants for breakfast (I have never given him mac & cheese for breakfast, I swear) and even at night when I say "which PJ's do you want to wear?" he answers "MAC CHEESE!"
I'm going to print out all of your suggestions and not give up until I've fed him (or at least attempted to feed him) each of these things.
Tacos
Fajitas
Strogonoff
Pasta and Sauce- but I add lots of chopped squash and whole tomato
Stirfry
we are actually in a great phase where as long as there is something to "dip" her food in, she is totally fine with nearly anything. So if I add humus to her plate she will clean it.
- diced up chicken (baked or oven fried)
- carrot sticks with ranch
- salad with sliced carrots.
- burgers with or without cheese
- burritos, made with meat, beans and cheese
- sliced turkey lunch meat with cheese slices.
- pizza with ranch
- turkey or beef meatballs diced up (with or without spaghetti)
- breakfast for dinner (except he won't eat eggs right now) bacon, toast or pancakes with fresh fruit.
Omg, I miss Trader Joe's soooo much! They have a frozen mango desert that is to die for and I cannot find it anywhere else. I miss my Nashville food options (whine, whine, whine lol).
DD has texture aversions like her father and sometime I literally shove food in her mouth so she will at least taste it. She has a strange list of likes and getting her to eat meat has been difficult so beans are our go to protein.
Boiled beats, red beans and rice, whole wheat pancakes with peanut butter on them, scrambled eggs, any kind of pasta but she hates red sauce so it's either pesto or garlic and butter, stir-fry, and SOS. She doesn't eat much yet, so her lunch usually consists of one thing for her to focus on eating and half of that usually ends up in the floor.
