DH bought his 8 years ago. He hadn't worn them in a good 5 years, and they definitely didn't fit anymore when the Ball rolled around. Thankfully, they have a panel in them that allows them to be let out. I would have been pissed otherwise because they are outrageously expensive.
did you try the base thrift store. i used to volunteer at my base's and there were some great ones for CHEAP. like 10 bucks and practically brand new. we are buying my husband's there from now on.

We're not on a base. He had to get them for his commissioning ceremony and some other thing going on in a couple weeks. I wish we could get it cheap.

Yeah well make sure your husband doesn't let the movers pack up his uniforms when you PCS so he has to go out and buy a whole new set of uniforms for a function immediately upon arrival at the new duty station.....not that that has happened to us or anything. You'd think a grown man who has been in the Army for 10+ years would know such things AND listen to his wife who is former military not to let the movers pack the uniforms but oh no.....but I digress. Yes, they are ridiculously expensive. Not only the uniforms but all the crap that you put on them too.

Hopefully you're using the STAR card to pay for the uniforms because they have 0% interest on all uniform purchases. Then you can pay it down as you have the money rather than one lump sum.
I was shocked by the price of the jacket with nothing on it. Then you add in their cover, everything for the jackets, tailoring, etc. Jeez. He's worn them once, for his flight school graduation. He thought he had a chance to wear them again for a wedding this year, but its a beach wedding, lol. He was so disappointed. I just keep telling myself that it will last him a while, providing he doesn't loose or gain weight.

Yuuup. Let's just say DH does not have the body he did at 25. We've been fortunate to get some hand-me-downs from friends with similar issues, and have tried to pay that forward as well. But jeez.
Good call with the reminder not to pack at PCS. DH has never pulled anything aside, but I guess we've been lucky so far. I'll have to watch that next year!

We just bought DH a new PT warm up jacket and it was $85. It sucks, but that is what the clothing allowance is for!
