After Birth question..

Whew...I've been posting up a storm. I think now that work is over I've moved into nesting.

Anywho, my Mom told me to purchase a really good girdle for after delivery to help my body return back to normal. Have any of you ladies heard of this? If you have and have also done this, what did you purchase? (i.e. will a pair of spanx work?)

Some girls have posted about this on the nurseries and baby gear board, apparently it does work but spanxs aren't the best for it. I forget what most people use though sorry!

I'm a first time mom, so I have no clue, BUT I assume I will be wanting to go for comfort after birth. And for me a girdle and/or spanx does not equal comfort.

Yes, spanx work as do any brand of shapewear. I plan on wearing ones I already own. My favorite brand of shapewear is Naomi and Nicole sold at Macy's.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean but I did read an article about wearing belt-type things (kind of like a maternity belt, but postpartum instead) around your hips after delivery because the relaxin that helped your joints spread in the first place are still present for a few weeks postpartum. I'm not going to do it, but that's just me.

I plan on getting the belly bandit. I have read a lot on this. I didn't get anything for the first time around because I didn't know about it but this time I have done my research and plan on getting on. I already told DH that this is first thing on my list to buy and I want it here a week or so before DD#2 is born. It says it is good to wear it the first 6-8 weeks pp. Is that what you are talking about?

My thoughts exactly, but my mom sweared by it with all 4 pregnancies and she still has a rocken body...even in her 60's! I think its worth a try and I have some spanx lying around.

Im going to use the Belly Bandit I just bought off ebay if its comfy enough. I want it for posture support and to help get to prepg size. Im not planning on spanx under my clothes though.

From your pic you seem Spanish I am a second time mom. I come from a Spanish family and all the females in the fam recommend that after a month of giving birth get that gridle on lol. I wore mine a month after giving birth and it was not uncomfortable at all. I used a colombian one that I found online especially for after birth. The tighter the better because it will stretch I was able to fit in an extra small after a month of having my daughter. I did get prego after the 2nd month but my gridle is waiting for me after I have my son this time around lol. It was on the pricy side I paid 100.00 for it and its good quality
