Expired baby food

So I ran to the store last night to grab some food as I was all out (I know - bad mommy) for LO...This morning I went to open one of the packs to feed him breakfast - the expiration date was sometime in 2009....Indifferent I'm so glad I checked....WTF?!?!?!?!?

Seems crazy to me that the store would allow that to be on the shelf...I wonder if it is that big of a deal? To me it is....

Thoughts?

  • I've worked in grocery stores and that would be totally unacceptable. Someone's head would roll where I worked at.

I work in a grocery store and that is a HUGE deal. You should be able to take it back and get a newer one free plus they should give you a gift card or something as an apology and if they don't ask to talk to the store manager and s/he will. That is definitely not okay.

  • I would take it back, and speak to a manager!

  • Um - what store was it.  The reason I ask is the A&P stores - Pathmark, Superfresh, A&P, etc. are in bankruptcy and I have noticed that my Pathmark is consistently leaving products on the shelves that are beyond the expiration date.  I have started to think it is related to the bankruptcy.  So be careful if you go to these grocery stores.
