Breastfeeding

LO getting angry, pulling at me.... etc.

so, the past day or two LO has not been happy nursing.  He will be okay for a little while, and then start making grunting noises, pulling at me, kicking his legs.... etc.

I'm trying to feed on one side per feeding due to oversupply issues.... i'm not sure if this is causing this problem, and maybe he's struggling to get milk out? Which wouldn't make sense if there was an oversupply issue? I dont know....   As of this morning he was screaming after feeding for a while too....

Any suggestions?

  • Sounds like it is because of the oversupply. I don't ave any suggestions, but when I talked to the LC she said all those are signs of oversupply.

  • He may not be struggling to get it out but struggling to take it all in from a forceful letdown.

  • This is exactly what I experience when LO has bad gas, the thrashing of the legs and pulling away.

Same here.  This is what I was thinking.  It's like my son's stomach is bothering him, so he starts to pull away and kick his legs, but he loves his milk too much to actually delatch.  Fun times.

Have you tried burping your baby?  My son is a super hard burper.  it can take 10 minutes to get a burp out.  After he burps, though, all of the fussiness stops.

  • Mine does this when she's gassy as well.

Same here. Along with reflux. He has been much better since using mylicon drops (pedi said use at every feeding if I want) and starting on reflux meds.

This.  Also, if you're having oversupply issues, the behaviours you described would be pretty consistent with that.
