Hi all! This is my first post on this board - got my BFP on Mother's Day and we're very excited for our first LO! My first appointment with my OB is still a few weeks out, but I was just wondering if your husbands came along on your first and/or future appointments? TIA!
Re: Husband going to first appointment?
congrats!
DH came with me to the first appt, but that's because we knew we were getting an u/s. The first appt I had with a nurse, which was just medical history and bloodwork, I went alone. I think the plan for us is if there's an u/s involved, he'll come, if not, then he won't.
LCT - 5.15.14 ~ 9lbs, 22.5 inches
My husband didn't come to my first appointment because it was just to confirm my pregnancy and we went through my history. My 12 week appointment is today and he is coming because we will probably hear the heartbeat and get a u/s. He's really excited.
My hubby will be with me on my first appointment along with all of the others. I dont think he wants me to feel alone and that he is being supportive! I think it is good for the dads to be there for all the appointments because they are knowing what to expect!
P.s KMM2150 I love your choco lab! We have one of our own, they are so fun!!
No. My husband cannot get off of work but even if he did go he would have been bored out of his mind. It was an internal exam, bloodwork, and some information on nutrition, when you should call the emergency after hours line, etc.
The only appointment he will attend is the anatomy scan at 20 weeks, and possibly the NT scan depending on when it is scheduled for.
Breastfeeding and pregnant!
Same with us... My first appt. was actually yesterday! I knew they were going to do the vaginal ultrasound and that there was a possibility we'd see a heartbeat. I'm so glad he came because we saw our little bean and it was priceless to have the hubby there.
I'd suggest calling your Dr. and asking what the appt. will consist of. Good Luck!
I'd check with your doctor and see what they are doing for the first appointment, then see how your husband feels about it.
I'm having my DH come along because they will be doing an u/s so we should be able to hear the hearbeat. He'll help me remember my questions/answers and he's better at asking follow up questions.
I asked him about future visits and as long as something is happening he wants to go, but if it's just a "checking in" type of visit he doesn't want to take the time off of work.
By the way, I love your puppies!
