Another May Mom - Long Birth Story

Well girls my water broke last night around 11:30 while I was trying to fall asleep complete with mucous plug. We called the on call dr who advised to go to the hospital. There, they ran tests determining that my water had broken for sure. They started me on magnesium sulfate to slow the contractions that had started. It worked for awhile. I was measuring at less than one cm and 50% effaced. They monitored me throughout the night and I was still having sporadic contractions. They did an u/s in the morning and baby was still breech and they were concerned as they measured him at 3 lbs 5 oz which they thought was 10th percentile. They sent me back to my room and told me that they were going to try to keep me in the hospital until 34 weeks then perform a c section. I was still having some sporadic contractions and I asked for medication as they were becoming pretty uncomfortable and closer together. Before they would medicate, luckily the nurse called a dr to come check my cervix - they had been holding off due to the fact my water had broken and they did not want to cause an infection with too many exams. I was at 5 cm! The dr. looked at me and said um.... you are going to have this baby in the next hour. They waited for MH to get back from our house where he was picking up stuff for our hospital stay, then rolled me into the OR and did a c-section. Michael Dennis III was born at 11:50am on May 10 at 5 lbs 3 oz and 17 3/4 in long. He had some respitory distress and is now in the NICU. I haven't been able to hold him yet but I have been able to touch him. He is such a beautiful little boy. Not sure how to post a pic but will post one later when I figure it out. The c-section went very well - I have not had much pain yet and have walked a little and been to visit Michael in the NICU while in a wheelchair. This whole visit was less than 12 hours. So crazy!

I hope your NICU stay is short and uneventful!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

Congrats on your little boy! I'm glad that he was born with such a high weight! I hope you have a very short NICU stay and can bring that baby home with you soon.
