Baby shower=stress!!!

My mother is hosting my baby shower.  This has been the plan since we found out baby boy was on the way.  I am very grateful.

However, She announced today that she is planning on having it the last weekend in August!  HELLO! MOTHER! I am due a week and a half into September!!!  She said she has plans every other weekend in August.  

I suggested having it the last weekend in July.  She said she would think about it.

The last thing I want is to be super stressed out trying to get things organized in time for the baby.  I'm sure I will be doing that anyway.  I feel like I need more time to get things together, especially if I don't get everything I need at the shower!  Ugh!

    I had my shower just 2 weeks before my due date... and then DS came a week early.

    It was no big deal.... I was off work the last week anyway and when I went into nesting mode I had lots of stuff to do.

    I told this to my mom too, that August would be too late and I'd rather have it before the end of July. After all, for all we know I could go into labor in August...I don't want to push it that close to the due date at all.

    I would not want a shower late in August.  I am having mine on July 9th and then my work one the week after.  I want to make sure the room and EVERYTHING is done by August 9thish bc i want everything ready a month in advance just in case she comes early

    Plus I want to make sure that if there are things we don't get at the shower, we have plenty of time to leisurely gather the rest of the items we'll need (or exchange duplicates, etc.) and not have to run out to the store right away because the baby is about to pop out!

    I feel the same way, but I can't explain that to my mom, who thinks that the shower should be after the baby is here.

    I worry about the same thing! After my sister's shower, she had to go to the store and buy $1200 worth of stuff that she didn't get at the shower. I don't want to do that a week or two before I give birth. Just the idea of it stresses me out.

    I suggest having it sooner rather than later (like you said). I feel you on the stress of a late baby shower. With DD I was due in August. MIL was going on vacation for the whole month of July, so my mom did it the last weekend in June so that everyone could go.

    It was about 2 months before my EDD and I feel that it was good timing. I was big enough for people to be excited about the belly, but not so big that I was uncomfortable all day. I had plenty of time to do returns on multiple items and get things we still needed.
