Crawly Legs

I wish that I could just climb into bed, relax, and go to sleep at night.  But, I can't because my legs are just crawling!  I can't keep them still.  I had this with my first pregnancy too, but, I don't remember it being this bad.  Anyone else suffering from this?  Any tips?

YES.  I find that it is extra bad when my iron is low, so if I up my iron, I usually feel ok.  I have also heard that calcium supplements can help.

  • My Dr called it Restless Leg Syndrome.  There is actually medicine you can take for this but it is class C I think...not found to be good or bad for pregnancies....so he just told me to drink lots of water and take an iron supplement.  You can buy then OTC in the vitamin section at Walgreens.

  • Im not sure if what is happening to me is the same thing, but the soles of my feet have been "crawly" the past couple days...it feels like a bug is walking on me but there is nothing really there...sorry I know that probably sounds really weird! Embarrassed

Im wondering if this is the same thing ... I feel like I have to keep stretching out my legs and I cant just lie down like I used to! I havent been taking my iron pills regularly, so maybe trying that will help.

  • Yup. I dealt with this before my pregnancy and it has been really bad for the past couple weeks. For me - it's not about being hydrated or anything - well at least I don't find drinking helps. What I do is get my feet to another temperature. So I will take a shower right before bed to relax me...and if I'm not showering before bed I keep ice packs in the freezer. I apply the ice pack and a towel to the soles of my feet or shins, or knees even at times. This takes my feet and legs to a different temp. and relaxes them right away! It's worth a try! Good luck!!!

  • Thanks for the tips!  I have already tried upping my calcium and that doesn't seem to be doing anything, so, maybe I will add a bit of extra iron to see if that helps.  The changing temperature thing sounds interesting.  I might need to give that a go.  Ice on my feet at night sounds amazing since I'm so hot in bed already!
