Bundle Me

My DH and I took a Baby Basics class this past Friday Night

The Teacher mentioned not using the Bundle Mes because they void the warranty and compromise the safety of the car seat

Anyone feel like this isnt a concern?

Is covering LO with a Blanket just as good?

Re: Bundle Me

  • I used the bundle me for Natalie because it was winter. But I don't think I will need it this summer. I am planning on just a blanket.

  • We used them because the wind is crazy here and a blanket would just blow off and expose DD to the air.  Ours didn't interfere with putting the carseat into the car in any way.

This. DS was born in Dec so it came in handy. We usuallly took it off inside the car or a building because DS is a hot baby. I'm expecting DD to be the same way, but she will be five or six months old before it gets cold here.

  • We have car seat covers - they have elastic to fit around the top of the car seat, and little "windows" that you can open over the baby's face.  I think these are safer because they don't interfere with the straps of the seat.

  • I also have a carseat cover that basically has elastic that goes over the top of the seat with a zipper that goes part way up.

Bundle Mes are everywhere here though...I live in MN it's a necessity of life with a baby. A blanket doesn't do much in January.

  • #1 was born in October- and went through a harsh Chicago winter- and we did not use the Bundle-me.  A blanket worked fine- maybe not as "easy" as a Bundle-me but he also tended to get hot in his carseat.  It was definitely a safety issue for me.

I do plan to get a carseat cover (that goes over the carseat) to help block sun, wind, etc. since #2 will be a summer baby.

  • Pretty much anything and everything extra voids the warranty. The car seat company doesn't want to pay for a replacement seat unless they really have to. So adding a headrest or strap covers, or bundle me anything that didn't come with the seat gets them off the hook.

This is what we use as well.  If you are talking about the Bundle Me that goes behind the baby and then comes around to cover them up it compromises the safety because its an extra layer between the baby and the carseat.  We survived an Iowa winter with a blanket over DD and then the carseat cover over the carseat itself.

  • With DD I had the kind that went over the carseat and not under the baby for our winter trips to Buffalo where both families live.
